Just bought my first chainsaw for a small job at home, had no idea how much equipment and training/knowledge is needed...wish I had just paid someone to come do the job now....but appreciate this thorough video. This is really helpful for someone like me, with no experience. I need some more reasons to use a chainsaw to make all this equipment and learning this worth it now.😬

I just bought my first one too for some jobs at home. We've got a lot of dead logs to cut up. Spent a lot on PPE safety gear too but I also work in horticulture and landscaping so see it as more of an investment! Maybe you can try to do some odd jobs for people now you have the equipment? Just be sure to think about insurance and obviously don't take on jobs that are too big. I'll leave that sort of stuff to the arborists!

This is why any contractor work is expensive, because it’s not just the tools, it’s knowing how to use them and safely.

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzfaq.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

Yeah sure leave the chain brake on when your walking around with the chainsaw... Stihl won't fix it when you burn out the sprocket/clutch bearing but will be more than happy to blame any issue that comes to the workshop on 'user' error...

What happens when you are cutting through a soft substance then you hit something really hard? and then the red liquid is gumming up your chainsaw. Also how do you get the tree to stop screaming at your and hitting you.

I find I have to make good use of what ropes I've got and really tieback the limbs so they can't hit me. The only way I've managed to reduce (unfortunately not stop) all the splash, is to wait until winter to attack, !ahem! I mean start the job, then leave in the snow overnight to freeze before cutting 👍

Ok so i dissagree that u need to put chain break on when not in use. If u need to stop for that long u should be turning the saw off. If you put the saw down turn it off. Its like the breaks on your car yes, make sure it works but dont overuse it or you will be replacing it when it breaks, just creating more cost for maintaining the saw ... The way he teaches her to hold the saw, if it kicks back her hand wont even touch the chain break

5:14 is incorrect. Drop starting a chainsaw is perfectly safe as long as you have engaged the chain brake. Since the chain simply cannot move, how the hell are you supposed to be able to hurt yourself by drop starting a saw?
