when im trimming pieces like that, I take a small lid off of a jar and put a set it on top. It holds down much better and is smoother. Do the same for bowls as well.

It's actually better to use a plain, unglazed chuck. Think about it: bisqueware is “thirsty”, and porous, so wet clay will stick to it better. Far better. Also glazing a chuck just wastes glaze, wastes space in the glaze-firing, and wastes the time needed for that 2nd fire…

I'm not making an argument for griffin grips or whatever they're called but I bet there is a DIY that isn't too cheap to do I just lost my shift after the last 6 seconds of this video lmfao
