I bought this setup from EA and it works GREAT. It keeps the grass out and the dirt loose so it can take in water. Perfect. Thanks Ted.

what prevents the cultivator tines from turning with only one bolt to keep them straight. I think a 2 bolt setup would be better.

You could weld cleats to the top surface of the tines at an angle to butt up against the v- frame. I also installed automotive 1/2"x20 wheel studs through the tines facing up, going through the v- frame. Now you only need one wrench to tighten the nuts and the welded cleats keeps the tines from moving while tightening the nuts. Win win 😊

You guys try to get your hands on a new bx23s! Old one absolutely love it and use it for practically everything from hauling groceries for the house, Moline hauling garbage from the end of the driveway to the house and from the garbage from the house to the end of the driveway and practically, it's an all-around tool!

I like the way it works, but like the last guy you want to throw the dirt up against your plants too. I would love to have some of this equipment if I could get my bank to finance it. I have a 30 hp John Deere 790 tractor with the quick hitch so I could attach the equipment easily. All I need is the garden hardware to get to work.

Is there any difference between running three 2” tines on each side vs running a 6” sweep? What about mixing tines & sweeps?

I suppose you could mix the tines and sweeps, but, historically, 2" tines has been what people use for cultivation. Sweeps would have more of a trenching effect on the soil.

@@EverythingAttachments Thanks for clarifying. I was mainly thinking about swapping in a set of sweeps instead of the inside two shanks on some of the earlier cultivations of beans, corn, eggplants, peppers, etc. use the hilling action of the sweep so I didn't have to go back with the bedder to build up a hill around them as they grow, then go back to three 2" for cultivation as they get bigger.

Would be nice to see it worked in real growing conditions. We know it would work in loose tilled soil. Lets see you make your video working in crops. Bet it would not work so good in that clay if it had been pounded with rain for 2 or 3 weeks and had some weeds in it. Everything you sale it done in this loose dirt. Come on man lets see some real videos with crops.

absolutely...i'm trying to keep the weeds down between fruit trees and i think you need a multiple ripper. If anyone has a great tool out there please chime in. It has to be a 3 point draw and easily lifted and turned in tight hillside rows.
