My first time finding you, I am very impressed with your teaching technique, just the right speed, easy to follow. I am learning to make mandalas and keep looking for different styles and patterns. What I have learned from your videos will be very helpful. Thank you so much. I will be 83 yrs. old in August and I enjoy any form of craft. I live on the Gold Coast Australia. Keep up the good work 🥰

Oh wow! That's so funny you say that. It had me thinking of quilTing and wire art. Take a small gage wire glue ribbon over it then use this technique for the shape. Then u can sow, embroider, or French embroider it. Sow on beads the glue of sow that or rap it on whatever ur making. So above I was asking if thisbwould work on multiple ideas. And it all seemed from quilTing. Now that you mentioned it ik the comb ur talking about and don't they also have a bord too with spikes sticking out of it? Anyways that's funny. I didn't k what that was 4 either. It's now "dawning on" me what that is for. I new quilt and quil had something in common. I'd love to learn quilTing. Or is it stitching? 🤔 well 1 project at a time.

Omg sorry about the typos! I was trying to say take wire and glue ribbon over it. Then use this idea to achieve the shape. But afterwards you will be rapping the wire or sowing etc the ends. I wanting to sow on beads. I believe French embroidery is similar to what I mean.

And just like that, you have potentially saved me a TON of time! I just started learning to quill as of yesterday and I've been gluing EVERY. SINGLE. LOOP. It's such a simple concept --if you don't glue every loop you don't actually need to worry about making sure the layers are flush. Thank you, thank you very much! :)

Thanks for the reminders as I have not used my quilling comb ( or rat tail hair comb🙈) in quite a while as I have been using other cutting- embossing combos. Love the suggestion of starting with the needle tool and skipping it over onto the comb. I can see the advantage of the actual quilling comb with the even tines. Love the “ C” weave. I have loved using that for lotus flowers in the past. Just watched a bunch of your videos today. Great . Thank you. Marjorie from Georgia US

Hi Meredith, only found you a few days ago. I taught myself, through a book, to quill a few years ago, with a toothpick, as I didn't have the tools, which where I live, is expensive. Just the basic shapes. Haven't done it for along time though. Never knew about the quilling comb. I have made a diy one, so now to watch your videos, to see how to do it, and if it will work. I just wanted to say, thank you, for taking your time, and slowly clearly, explaining things. As I had two, other people's videos pop up on my phone. But,, they do not speak, just show, not even words on the screen ( that maybe would have helped, though probably then would not have been able to see) And what they are showing, they are doing it so quickly. So needless to say, I didn't continue watching. So thank you for the way you do your tutorials. I hope to learn, how to make flowers and butterflies and lot more, from you.

@ThePaperyCraftery
@ThePaperyCraftery 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! They do work very similarly, but the husking board can be a little tricky since the pins can come out pretty easily. The one advantage to the husking board is that you can create some shapes all at once on the board, but that same shape may have to be make in pieces on the comb. These flowers for example would have to be made in 2 pieces on a comb, but can be done all at once on the board 👉 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jphidKWWz9-5nqs.html

Thanks for the information. I have a question about tearing the end of the quilling strip versus cutting it with scissors. Does tearing the end of the strip provide a more seamless result? I've been cutting a straight edge with sharp scissors. Thank you very much :)
@ThePaperyCraftery
@ThePaperyCraftery 4 жыл бұрын
I think it really does make a difference. Cutting leaves more of a blunt edge that’s harder to blend. When you tear the paper, little fibers are left on the end that can grab onto the paper below and you can really smooth it out. Give it a try and see if you like the result!

Another thing. You k how a small gage of wire can be rapped with material ex: string yarn cloth or what have you. Can u rap ur wire around the comb similar to make the shape. Instead of glue u might twist it or stick it, 😂 or glue it to something when it's done. But to achieve this idea you could...🤔 wonder how that would turn out??? I have seen a price of wood and 3 rows of 3 nails hammered into a small square bord so achieve shapes so the wire dosnt bend. But if u were not able to make that. You maybe be able to use this comb. Am I making any sence to you? I'm going to try. That would be great if someone can try to see what's the best way. I'd like to but I only have cell phone quality and never on so I don't have followers. But if someone else would like to collaborate with me then hut me up or send a message telling ng me No not a good idea!
