Nut riveters are incredibly useful in that they allow you to create a captive nut out of a drilled hole where the material used is too thin to be tapped or threaded
I love using this tool it helps add fascinating options when dealing with thin metal other than through bolting and pop rivets

Knowing about the spring-loaded sleeve makes all the difference 🙂 Thanks.

Three pumps and you’re good. Brings me back to when I was 16. All BS aside, I’m glad I saw this video. I use rivnuts pretty often. The manufacturer of the product we install them on supplies the rivnut, Allen key and instructions on how to install them using said Allen key and an open end wrench. AND THEY SUCK!!! Thank you sir!

Very good video. I would have deburred the hole using a Cogsdill deburring tool or a countersink (that's just me). Thank you for the video.

That’s a good point. Thank you for sharing. There wasn’t much of a burr, and I was thinking that that would help grip the insert little bit more of a jagged surface Or do you think it’s best to bur the surface so it’s clean

As an aircraft mechanic we always de-burred the holes front and rear using a Cogsdill tool to clean up and prevent cracking when riveting. I've always de-burred any hole just as a measure to get a solid flat surface to bond anything to. As for that panel, it's perfect as it is. Just a little FYI of how I was taught. Thank you for your videos.

The tool itself is fine. The rivot nuts are junk. 2 out of 3 threads stripped

I’m not saying this is what it is but you need to double check to make certain that the tool insert has not been stripped. I have a 6 mm insert for this tool that I’ve stripped out because all of my nut Certs are stainless steel and the damage the six mill insert for the tool check your threaded tool part and see if the threads are stretched or damaged.

@@shopandmath I found out why from watching other videos. You're not supposed to thread the rivot nuts all the way. When squeezing the handle, it should close easily. Once closed, you give it a couple of turns on the thread and squeeze again. It works every time now.
