The chronograph runs independent of the normal watch. It other words, the watch does not stop keeping time while the chronograph is running. The big hand starts moving to count seconds when you engage the chronograph. The small seconds dial at 9 o'clock position keeps counting seconds as part of the normal timekeeping. In other words, the big hand only sweeps when the chronograph is running. The big hand does the seconds for chronograph. make sense? Great question by the way!

Actually when it reaches 30 minutes it will indicate half hour on the bottom dial (on the first notch). Then, after another 30 minutes have past the bottom dial will indicate the next notch, which is one hour.

after using that function and you want to use it as a watch again, do you have to re-adjust the time again or does it automatically go back to normal time?

Please help! My chronograph doesnt move to 1 after a minute? It doesnt move at all? And the bottom 60 second one works as a stopwatch on mine, it seems? I have a bulova chronograph 98A142 watch with leather band.

My chronograph is completely different. The big second's hand keeps moving irrespective of the chronograph and the subdial second's hand counts the seconds for the chronograph. And the third subdial displays hours for the current time instead of the chronograph time. Is this a issue with my watch?

Hey, nice video, I do appreciate it! But, you might want to consider a set up that doesn't allow for so much handshake - it's sort of hard to follow along with you when your subject is bouncing around the frame. Keep up the nice work!

some chronograph s have a 1/10th sec dial but lack the hour subdial, yet others have the latter but lack the former. how long can the former ones measure????

I know 26 refers to the day of the month, (mine is set to 20 and yours is set to 26 and you uploaded it on the 26th) but doesn't that mean it also needs to know the month? How does it know whether to go to 30 or 31, or not go more than 28 in February?

You usually have to manually reset it on the first day of the month as it will always go to the 31st.

idylle♡doll Yeah, doing more research I found out how some watches could go 30 days without being wound and that was a counter so the operator knows when he/she has to wind it.

No, most have 30-40 hours power reserve. It's a date window, you are over thinking things.

forrest225 Ah, this is one of the watches that showed up during my searching, but it looks like the 31 day power reserve is in the minority, not the majority. You're right that most of them are only 30-40 hours and that the date didn't exist to keep track of when it was last wound. Im guessing after 30 mins the hour marker moves to .5 of an hour? Nice chrono. Just a shame about the bracelets on these watches. Wish they were nicer, or even brushed!

gjaddajg No you dont, you just have to ret the manual. In there it is explained how to adjust it so it resets to zero. I had the same problem. Solution (on my watch at least) was to press B until it was back at zero, while stopwatch was paused.

So if the top dial has only 30 ticks, then 10 minutes will look exactly the same as 40 minutes.

Yes, but the bottom dial will move to the halfway point for the half hour indicator.

Please get yourself a pointer to use in your videos. Your finger are just too big. a pencil might work, but a sharpened dowel or other proper pointer( with a red tip) would be much better.
