Seems to me that would be the only point. Most often I can just use the paint bucket on a layer under my line work and set it to grow area by 2px or so. Then I clean up any places it missed with a brush. Once I do that I can use a quick clipping group to do rim lighting and shadows. What krita really needs is an inner shadow that can be moved around and set to all frames for that layer. In after effects you can do this and get pretty good shadows and rim lighting for all of your frames. And then key frame the position. Unfortunately the layer style inner shadow for krita cannot be moved as far as I can tell and also goes all the way around the object on the layer.
