Compression is easily one of the most misunderstood concepts in mixing. In this tutorial, we will explore the standard Dyn3 Compressor included with Pro Tools and discuss some methods of getting started with compression in your session. We will walk through the parameters including threshold, ratio, attack and release, and makeup gain. Hopefully, this will make compressing easier regardless of which DAW, plug-in, or hardware compressor you may be using.

My man, I come from the days of recording with Cool Edit Pro. I’ve been mixing and mastering on an amateur level for 10 years. Maybe more. I’ve been reading and watching tutorials for that long or longer. I like Wayne.wav he gets right to the point and explains things in simple terms that most people can understand. Great use of illustration with the mom in the car with the radio thing.
