I was wondering why I was getting critical throws so much lately. with so many ice/winter pokemon having such easy to hit circles, suddenly it makes sense. Would be nice if they added like "perfect throw" or something instead of just excellent for the notif.

They'll patch it. They don't like us having fun or the game being easy. They should give you 20% chance of critting on every excellent throw. Another alternative is to have chaining in the game. If you do back to back excellent throws your chances of critical catches goes up

2:55 Just a small tip for what I’ve done to Pokémon in the past. If you use a berry and it moves to the side. You can just flip the ar on and off and it will recenter it. I saw you backed away and re entered the battle. It’s just easier and faster

Do you have any tips on how to determine when you have 'the smallest possible circle'? My attempts today have all failed, presumably because I am not timing it correctly.

One way I can think of is to screen record the circle changing while holding down the pokeball and then go frame by frame to see where the smallest circle is.

even with a modded game its not always 100% even with excellent and curve throws

This has been in the game since at least the summer. I got numerous critical catches during the 120 excellent throw challenge but i didn't realize that it gives 100% catch for smallest.

How do you throw with your thumb? Maybe at 68 I am too stiff

the smaller the circle the higher the odds even if its slight, I try to do as small as I can plus I get better at throwing so its a win win for me

Exactly, I view it the same way. Worse case is that you're getting a lot better at excellent throws

There's no guarantee it will crit catch. It's already been tried many times.

Quickcatch has been acknowledged by Niantic as abusing glitches, some people have woken up with their accounts banned a few months ago... Trying to do this trick on Galarian Birds is simply idiotic, it's better to try your best at getting the ~1.85x boost rather than to miss the boost entirely. It's better to hope for a ~5.996% than a ~3.24%, that's almost double the odds, which is abysmal when the base catchrate is 0.3%
