I used a lot of pedals back in the day when they were really big in late 70's and 80's like when Mike Brecker,Tom Scott and David Sanborn used them. I had my Cry baby Wah Wah, Small Stone phase shifter, Boss Chorus and Octaver. I originally used a Maestro Box lots of pre set effects like Fuzz tone, ,Bassoon, oboe , clarinet, flute and octave sounds but you had to use their mouthpieces with a transducer built in to them which were awful. Later when I switched to those pedals above I used a transducer that connected to my reed with almost like a fun tack substance.. Now I use the TC Helicon Voice Play live but it's a pain to program and it only has XLR connectors since it is really built for vocalists. I was thinking about getting the Boss Whammy pedal a sax player friend of mine likes it. I rather use effect pedals then spend time learning the EWI or Yamaha wind instrument!

piezo will pick up all the mechanical noise. it is usually used in direct contact which is not what you want on a sax as it is the air that makes the noise

Great job. Loved it. I use a DBX Go Rack mainly with the Anti Feedback and as a final mic/line boost. When I play on other systems and using monitors live, the anti feedback works great. Whether using an AMT wireless, Shure SM57, Audix i5 or whatever. I do usually bring my own powered speaker monitor. They don't make the Go Rack anymore but you can still find them online used and new. No question a life saver without changing the sound. Also it's my DI at the end. Happy Playing. We Be Jammin!!!!!! Bottom line, I never have feedback anymore.

Interesting pedal chain setup. I was always told to put booster or overdrive pedals first in the chain and then modulation pedals after. I’m going to have to try your chain setup one day. I love these videos you’re putting out and the explanation with them.

Awesome as long as you don't use boost, OD or any gain effects... as soon as you do, with an open-air microphone, you're in big trouble. Specially if you rehearse on headphones: your first gig with actual speakers and stage monitor will be a BIG surprise you'll never forget ;-) (because of the feedback loops)> After that you'd run into piezzo mics, if you're like me you'd might spend years trying to design your own... then one day you discover the "intramic" and your live changes forever one again ;-)

Great video! BUT: You left out the most crucial part of the whole topic - HOW DO YOU CONNECT YOUR SAXOPHONE TO THE PEDALS??? I gig with a Shure Beta clip-on that requires Phantom power. Do you use a preamp in front of the pedals? This is the one piece of information that I need to get started. Please and thank you!

Really enjoy your channel. I’ve recently added pedals as well (phaser, harmony, octave, reverb & delay). The one I’m struggling with is a wah pedal. I’ve tried Seamoon and MXR but when I unplug my headphones to listen thru amp I get continuous feedback. Sold pedals and still searching how to get wah sound without feedback. Help…..
@cecilyterhune
@cecilyterhune 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Rick! I've struggled with that a little bit too. I have found that using an equalizer and/or compressor before the wah pedal helps. I also have just the right spot picked out on my Qtron+ where it doesn't feed back. Let me know how your wah journey goes!

Thank you so much for the video, it is so instructing!!! One question: With the ART Tube MP + DI Box, do you get also some of your dry sound in the mix? Can you get a mix of wet/dry in the final output? Or this would be a reason to get something like the Voco Loco? What do you think about wet/dry mixes in general? Thank you once again!!!

@cecilyterhune 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Chris! That's awesome. I have used a compressor in a limited capacity. I think it might help when using sensitive pedals. Have you experimented much with a compressor? If so, what do you use it for?
@chriscreswell5594
@chriscreswell5594 2 жыл бұрын
@@cecilyterhune I have used a compressor on guitar. Compressor really helps even out the sound more on the guitar making all notes sound more equal in volume but I haven’t got to try it out on a trumpet was just worried it would mess with the dynamics of the horn.

Hello! Sorry for the delay. Were you able to get a sound? I have found in the past that too many active parts do not necessarily work well together.
