I use my 24 x 6" ruler to smooth out my quilt. Works well.

Thank you for this. So if you don’t usually baste a quilt on the floor, what method do you use? Pool noodles? Or a different method?

Great question! I have never used pool noodles before. I do have a longarm. If it is a big project, I will load it on that. The smaller projects (to include smaller quilts that I want to quilt on domestic), I will either use spray baste, basting powder, or a fusible batting. With the powder and the fusible batting, I can fuse on my ironing board. For the spray baste, always on the floor or porch. If time allows, I will use the homemade spray baste (on the floor, in the house). If I am in a hurry, I will use 505 (outside on the porch). I use to love to thread baste, which I did on my dining room table. But time has got the best of me, and I haven't done that in years. Thanks for tuning in! Happy Quilting to you!

I haven't opened it to see yet for I haven't been ready to use it yet. I am going to go check more out on your channel. It happens to be a Wednesday that I watched this, funny. Happy sewing.

I'm wondering if it works when quilting with a walking foot thru home machine where you have to roll, unroll, roll, unroll like 50 times or however many it takes. Would it hold up to that do you think? I haven't got your notifications in months since December. I thought you stopped making videos. I couldn't remember your name so I couldn't find you. 🙉I get to watch all your videos now! ❤️

Glad to see you found us again!!! I have used it with larger quilts inside my 6 3/4 throat space domestic while quilting it! It truly has held up for me and for other quilters..

I add quilting safety pins to the edges every 12-inches to keep the layer edges together because mine get a little separated as I manipulate the quilt.

So will this stick to a polyester batting? Only my tops and backing are cotton.

Felicidades, it does not work well on 100% Poly. I have used it on 80/20, and it worked great. The batting does need to be largely natural fibers. It does work the best on 100% natural fibers. I only know this because I actually tried it! I have been told that it didn't work on synthetic fibers, but I really had to experiment with it myself first! XOXO- Angel

New sewer here , do you pre wash your fabric .? Is there shrinkage if you don’t prewash once the basting dries?

Good afternoon Karen. Pre washing is a personal preference. I pre wash my fabrics unless they are precuts. If prewashed I would suspect that there wouldn’t be shrinkage when using this basting spray. I’m testing this basting spray on a sample piece of fabric and batting. Stay tuned.

Welcome, Karen to the world of quilting!!! I personally do not prewash anything. I do however, starch my yardage (not my precuts). If you use steam, starch, water, or really any type of liquid, cotton will shrink. For example, when you wash your cotton quilt with cotton batting, it puckers up beautifully. That is the shrinkage. When I starch my yardage, it does shrink a bit. Therefore, the basting doesn't really affect it. When you baste with homemade spray baste, there is a bit of shrinkage. However, you have a larger backing and batting than the top, and you are doing all 3 together. Therefore, it truly doesn't matter. They all shrink together. The shrinkage is quite minimal, and I find that it has never been a challenge that affected the quilt. As a matter of fact, visually I can not even tell. Great question! Look forward to hearing your feedback, if you try out the homemade spray baste!

I actually covered that on the live after the video drop. Because you asked the question, I realized that we need to organize the lives better. No, it did not stick well at all. I personally wouldn't use it on synthetics. I have used it on 80/20, and didn't have challenges.

Would not flour attract bugs? We live in FL, so bugs can be a problem.

I have both knees replaced so the floor is out for me….
