This is a quick explanation of how Lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control work in a brand new Honda. if you're thinking about purchasing one of the vehicles that offers this, or you already have this is a nice explanation of how those features works.

I hope you can respond to this I'm close to purchasing one myself, a 2020 Civic 1.5 Turbo, what's your overall review of the Honda Sensing system, the ACC and LKAS, are they easy to get used to and work perfectly? Do you have to use the gas pedal or is it one hundred percent automatic the acc?

John they're both easy to set up and easy to use. I find they work quite well. The only time you may struggle is an inclement weather. And let's be honest they're not really designed to be used in a thunderstorm, etc.

Damm used the adaptive cruise control for the first time yesterday (crv 2018) best option since A/C made driving in creeping traffic bearable. Not having the wife shreek at me while stamping the brake on the passenger side even better.

So for the adaptive cruise control setting. Once you set the speed and the distance. Does it automatically stay locked in? Or do you have to press the set button again once everything is configured?

Very helpful! Quick question: With the adaptive cruise control, if you set the distance between the car in front of you at say 100 meters, and then a car in the next lane merges or cuts in front of you at say 50 meters - will the car brake too hard to the point that it is dangerous (e.g. you could get rear ended because the adaptive cruise control brakes too hard). Thanks in advance!

What triggers the Lane Departure feature? I have a 2021 Cr-v and it pops up on my dash n I don't understand why. I also hate that it caused the steering wheel to somewhat shake. Any help or info on this is much appreciated
@JustinFullerReviews

There is a button over on the dash to the left of the steering wheel that engages or disengages this features. It uses the camera in your windshield above your rear view mirror to pick and read the lines on the road.

My ACC keeps adapting the the speed of vehicles in the lane to my right. I keep being told this is a safety feature and that it is normal, but it does not seem right to me. When I am in the fast (left) lane, I should be able to have my ACC on and still pass people in the right lane; however, my vehicle slows down to the slower speed of the vehicle in the right lane, thus not allowing me to pass without tunring the ACC off. Can you comment?
@JustinFullerReviews

I haven't run into this issue while using these features. It leads me to believe either the camera or radar needs to be adjusted. It sounds as though it is aimed off to the right side and picking up those vehicles more than it should.

Do you have to have on cruise control for lane keep assist to work ?
@JustinFullerReviews
@JustinFullerReviews 3 жыл бұрын
You do not have to have adaptive cruise control on to use Lane keep assist. The two can run separate of each other. The only connection is to the button on the steering wheel that turns them on. From there you can set one, or the other, or both.

Why do cars need Cruise Control if they have Adaptive Cruise Control?
@JustinFullerReviews

@@davidk2137 adaptive cruise control is really classic cruise control, but upgraded. It still uses the basic functions of cruise control, but is adding in sensors and cameras to further its abilities. I think for that reason they also give you access to the classic cruise control. If it's available, why not offer it...

Lane keep assist is dangerous! If it's preventing you from changing lanes, what happens if you need to swerve quickly to avoid an accident? I understand it won't let you change lanes unless you use your turn signal. You're not going to remember nor have time to use your turn signal in an emergency situation.
@jewelswinfield
@jewelswinfield 4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't work like that. You can still change lanes at your leisure.It's just a gentle bump you feel to the steering wheel if you hit the line, and it will straighten you up. It wont override anything that you do to the steering wheel regardless if you use a blinker or not. You can cross 3 lanes of traffic back and forth, the vehicle will let you do what you want.
@ChillRichard
@ChillRichard 3 жыл бұрын
Yea, that’s definitely NOT how lane assist works.. it’s just a slight tug that keeps you in the lane if you drive out of it.. but if you’re swerving to avoid an accident, you’ll be easily be able to change lanes
