The BMW M3 Competition xDrive seems to launch pretty hard even when not in Launch Control mode and I always felt there wasn't much difference in it, so I borrowed my good buddy Petrol Ped's RaceLogic VBOX to do some tests and find out...

You can save all the necessary settings to the M1 or M2 buttons. That way you don’t have to screw around with it whenever you want to use it, just hit the button and you’re ready

Yeah you could do, but for the amount that'd I'd use it, I'd rather save the buttons for driving modes that I'd use everyday. M1 was Sport plus engine and 4wd sport in MDM. M2 was Sport plus engine and 2WD with DSC off for when you see a skid opportunity, on a closed private road near Mexico obvs! 😉

I get mine in a few weeks, it’s on the boat right now to America. Coming from an mk8 golf r I hope it’s a major step up considering it was almost double the price

@@OneTwoThreePunch Don't worry Mike, you'll be blown away by the quality and performance! Much like I found, it'll take you a week or so to recalibrate what the car is capable of, as when you think you've got a handle on it, the car has much more to give!

I leased a 2022 X6M Comp. It was a beastly tank to drive…mostly felt very heavy as I was coming off a 2018 M3 Comp (mistake, should have stayed the M3 way….more fun). The X6 really came alive during Launch, pulled like a beast. I felt it was way stronger using LC than just punching it myself. I keep seeing these new M3 Comp X Drive launches and they look awesome!

Thx for the info! I was actually wondering what was the difference. I could indeed feel the push a liiiittle bit harder in the first 20m or so, but the difference was not, in my opinion worth pushing all the buttons and checking all the boxes ;) This car is so crazy fast, launch control is just for the show. "In case of..." Thx again (And saving the config in the M2 switch, as said before, seems to be the easiest way for lazy people like me)

No worries. I had to test it for myself, I knew it was close, and you can definitely tell it pulls harder initially, but like you say, unless you really want to impressive your mates for that initial launch, it's quick enough in normal/any mode! 👊 I hope you're subscribed? 😉

Be interesting to see what difference a super heavy driver versus a super light one would make...also, I see the road by Goodwood Race Course was nice and quiet for you 😉

what about a test where you are at the lights on red, and then just move you foot from the brake to the accelerator and floor it, what times would you get then?

Why the hell it need to be in manual mode for a launch and then still upshifting on it's own? What the heck!

Yeah exactly. Then if you don't activate all the parameters you hit the limiter! And once you've done a launch you're left with traction off! IMO you should just leave it all alone, and when you double pedal it should know you're going to do a launch? Think Porsche does that.

Sport+ and RWD DSC OFF is my M2 button mode for when I suddenly find myself in Mexico! 😜

You only have 100 launches and after they wont work anymore, then just regular brake boosting works.

If you put it in manual mode for the launch, will it auto shift up or will it rev out 1st gear all the way unless you shift?

This was my issue, it has to be in manual mode for the launch control to activate, then it will up shift for you which then makes no sense why it needs to be in manual. If you don't activate the launch control but think you have, it will hit the limiter. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I know, that's my argument in the video. Why do you then need to have it in manual? Because also if you don't hit all the parameters for LC, you hit the limiter!

You can do, but I found it pointless to waste one of only 2 saved settings just to do Launches. Gearbox setting 3 is way to aggressive IMO, and to drive a 4wd BMW which have the best TC systems, in RWD with everything off seems a bit pointless. And as proven, it's only 0.3 seconds quicker than doing none of it. 💪
