Dude running Mac Mini late 2012, which is an i5, but upgraded to 16G. Way more than I need. I have zero issues with it taxing out. I’m literally ALL the way down to 32 and I’m still having issues. She can actually handle 32 with ease. I’m REALLY good at rhythmic timing playing guitar, base and keys, but I just can’t get it to line up. Went from Mbox 2, but with upgrade just had to go with the Focusright Scarlet Solo 3rd gen. I’m stumped. Have followed every recommendation I can find. Even using the Spark 40 with USB or plugged in with the Aux out so there’s no plugin taxing with Amp Designer or Guitar Rig.

You forgot to mention that Low Latency Mode can be switched on and off very quickly and conveniently by simply adding the “Low Latency” button onto the menu bar up next to the metronome and solo button area. Control+Click next to the metronome to add the button. This eliminates the need to open and close preferences every time.

just to clarify a couple of things: low latency mode isn't a new feature. the button in the preferences is one way of enabling it; the other is available in your control bar (right click on it and select "customize display" to make that button available). also the "limit" slider sets the latency threshold in milliseconds, under which plugins that incur less latency than that threshold will be permitted to load (while in low latency mode).

thanks for the video. I guess I'm having way too high of a cpu usage with all the plugins I am using that's why I am having latency issues.

Yes, try disabling them when you record. The low latency button will disable them anyways, but you want to try to avoid recording with plugins as much as possible so you can get the best/clean recording!

Hi I have a big problem with latency. But not at all during the project in which to work. Strangely enough, that's EVERY TIME I want to continue working on the project the NEXT DAY. Those same moments when I'm working on a project and saving it (which sometimes happens) works perfectly. That's why I explicitly say the day after. That is no longer possible due to the latency since I can no longer play with a saved project. That is unbelievably sad. I have to find a solution. My Imac is well equipped and everything is updated in the latest new systems. I use a One Plus Apogee. Could it be that? Do I need to change my setting? I've tried a lot but nothing works. Maybe you know a solution.

Do u think u can help me with this problem? I’m not having delay issues I’m having this issue where when I record my vocals, they go sooner than the beat even when I put the right tempo and it’s very nerve racking bro

Hello! If it goes sooner then that is delay. Do you mean it happens after the beat?

You don’t need to push your buffer down that low… Right click on the top bar, next to the transport, choose edit buttons (or whatever it is) and check the “Low Latency Mode”. It will give you a button that looks like a speedometer. When you record, just hit that button and record. The buffer size, depending on how many tracks you have is needed… Especially if the plugins that you’re using are using the CPU rather than an external audio processing cpu (Like Universal Audio plugins).

In March I had no problem recording. Now I have a a major problem. I’ve tried two different computers and 3 instruments. I play some notes, it’s takes many seconds before the computer makes any sound and it doesn’t play what I played. Like if I play an octave. It plays back something unrecognisable with a rhythm from another world. And it might hold the last note without quitting. I have no idea what to do. I’ve been Googling for days and the only tips I find is this buffering and low latency mode. I’m lost.

Try reinstalling Logic? Maybe the program bugged out. Never had that issue.

I found an equation that worked for me: Take the computers calculated latency using your desired interface, and multiply it by 10 and then 2, to get the amount of milliseconds you need to set your delay to. It seems to have worked for me!

Sir can you help me out... my logic keep delaying..i have done all the latencey setting and the asio but still I keep hearing myself when am recoding into the mic..i hear playback in the headphone and this is not making my timing go well....i have done everything i can in logic but still have the same problem..

Here is a list of things it could be: 1. Buffer Settings (I would recommend 128 for recording) 2. Make sure your cables aren’t too long 3. Close unused programs and turn off WiFi so your computer uses all its processing power on logic. 4. Try using the tip I showed in the video after trying all these. 5. If it continues, then I would assume it would have to be the hardware you are using. Try these and let me know!

I'm on an i5 processor with 8GB RAM. Off an on, I'll have some latency issues. Recently, my recorded tracks sound early - I'll record something, it sounds in time when I'm playing, but it will be a fraction ahead of the MIDI tracks or a click. Any idea?

Hi Van, Try recording with a larger buffer, maybe 512 can be a good place. That way theoretically, you can delay the MIDI stuff and create latency with it so that your recordings can happen on time. Hope this helps!

@@Johnmunstudios actually, I literally just solved this. I spotted another Logic/Latency video and this was so simple... I connected an audio cable from input 1 to output 1 on my interface (PreSonus Audiobox USB96), opened up Logic, created an audio track, added the Utility, I/O, Mono plugin on the track. Set the input and outputs, ran a ping. This gave me the exact latency in samples. I could then offset the latency by changing the samples. Absolutely perfect now.

I’m not 100% sure because Auto-Tune is CPU intensive. I think Logic will shut it off, but you can definitely try it out! Maybe a 3rd party plug-in will allow it to go through. Hope this helps!

Hi there, thanks for the tips. Maybe it will solve some people problems with delay, latency, but unfortunately it doesn't fix every Logic installation. No matter what I do, I can't get rid of latency in Logic Pro X running on Mojave. I have installed the free version of Presonus Studio One 4 and now I'm not getting any latency while monitoring or recording audio. Go figure.

Hey! Yeah man, it could be a bug in the coding for your specific Logic Pro. Try calling Apple to see what they can do for you because I’m not 100% sure. I haven’t encountered an issue I couldn’t resolve after doing some digging. Try uninstalling and installing again. Maybe it will self correct itself.

@@Johnmunstudios I'm going to update to latest version (10.5.1) and see if it changes anything. I know that some drivers may conflict with Core MIDI. I have uninstalled some Korg USB drivers for my Prologue but still I'm not sure if they cause any problem, since that bug doesn't always happen. Well, anyway thanks for your tips. They surely can have some impact on handling latency.

mine has this issue too, especially when audio tracks layer up/lots of effects. feels like Mac’s just aren’t the tool to use with audio, PC seems to be the way forward. Shame as Logic is great for midi and synthesis

Christ almighty I’m having latency issues on my M1 Mac Studio even when setting my buffer to 32 samples lol. This issue is not good. I think I’m having a bigger problem here

Try reinstalling Logic, it could be the installation was corrupt. Also, make sure you aren’t running other programs simultaneously.
