Save the Cat Writes a Series that would be awesome considering I am currently plotting out a multiple series that takes place in one world but is told from multiple points of view I would buy that book in a heartbeat

Awesome video, thanks Jessica. I am working on a series myself and while I thought this would be how it works, you have put this in concrete terms. Thanks! The idea I was toying with is essentially a mix of what you said here. In each story either my main character arcs based on one of his many issues (trust, love, etc) or one of the other characters in the book deals with an issue, helped along by the main character and the specifics of the plot.

You are amazing! I just used your outlining to outline my novel and then I've even started plotting the next book as well and figuring out how to make the series continue. Thank you!!!!

Aren't there any other examples? The mention of Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling took me out of it. Ew.

I haven't read Galbraith or Rowling either (people, contain your shock). Consider Dan Brown's Robert Langdon books/movies (how about we just say stories?). Who has the greatest change in each story? It's not one overarching destiny but little hops or arcs for Langdon and usually larger arcs for a companion (Sophie in The Da Vinci Code). Adventure/thriller series are a bit of a different case I think, in that often the 'main character' learns little things from the broader story and more focus is given to the broader events than the arc. The Jack Reacher stories are the same, as are the Dirk Pitt novels by Clive Cussler. They still work as a series because the main characters till do smaller. flatter arcs across the series, but for the most part it's about stopping the bad guy's clock or raising the Titanic so you can save the world. Agatha Christie's Poirot novels are the same, Poirot does discover things about himself and about human nature in each book but most of the focus is on the individual crime/criminal. Poirot's arc is more about the trauma he experiences, than anything.
