Ive tried to bench read a BOSCH MED17.5.5 however it failed to identify. I checked all connections numerous times and it still didnt work

If you are a dealer with us why not give our technical team a call on 01789 774444 and option 2. They will be able to help see if there are any problems. The Kess3 can read that ECU via OBD, Bench, and boot methods. If you are not a dealer still give us a call and we should be able to help. Oliver

My question is, is there a way to find out which vehicles can be done via the obd port by entering a reg only as if only be interested in remapping via the obd

Hi, Thanks for sharing. Very informative training. A little help if you don't mind me asking for it. I find it challenging to search ECUs on the KESS3 AlientechSuite for me. For e.g. I have an ECU from Ford Fusion 2017, 2.0 made by Bosch. On the label, there is no MEV, MEG, MED XX.X.X etc. However, there is P/N, H/W, S/N etc. What's the best way to find ECUs? What should I be looking for on the label to help me identify it quickly on the Alientech suite or ktag suite?

Hello, a local workshop made a read backup for my porsche 982 using KESS3 that I need to send in to m-engineering for tuning. However, the file has no extension and it seems to be encrypted/compressed. How can decompress it to access all the files? thank you

Can the slave read backup and write to another ECU to swap no changes in map just a straight swap or does it have to be sent to the master?

The Kess3 slave will not enable cloning of the ECU, this can be done, but only through the master - sorry. You can see more on the Kess 3 here: viezu.com/alientech-kess3/

Sir I have one doubt Why u use different read backup for slave and master ? Both are same ryt ? The same file I can send to u if am using slave and I can modify the same file if Iam using master ! What is the difference in that ???

It's a great question @fayiz488. there is no real difference in the backup. the backup is exactly what it sounds like, it's a backup read of all of the readable components in the ECU. However, the difference is with the tool. A client/slave tool cannot see or view the individual parts. This helps keep it very simple and straight forward for a client/slave user to operate. Simply read the backup / write the backup. For a Master, the backup is different. It is there purely as a backup. The master would tune the "MAPS" data file, either the micro or flash chip or on some ecu's a specific MAPS read that combines data from both chip types. This is what is then tuned and wrote back to the ECU. The backup for a Master tool operator is there to restore the ECU back to full original in a worst case scenario.

Does a slave user have the clone button enabled? On Ktag slave users don't have this button enabled and I was unable to clone a EDC17 ecu for a customer.

It's not enabled on client tools from Alientech, but if you send the files to your Master they should be able to do this for you in most cases. The reason it was removed is that the old style of just burning a backup from the old ECU onto the donor ECU will not work on many ECUs anymore. For correct cloning the process is different on some new ECUs and it writes partial data into the DONOR ECU at various steps of the process. If in doubt check with your master. If cloning is something that you will do often, then I would suggest upgrading to a Master KESS3 and possibly look at a Magic Flex as that has great cloning options also. if i purchase a Master tool, and ECM titanium so i can tune petrol vehicles as this is what we currently have experience with. would i still be able to operate as a slave, meaning, to be able to buy tuning files from Viezu or other tunners if i receive clients with diesel vehicles (mostly ford rangers and mazda bt-50)?

yes you can still buy ready to use tuning files as a master, and if you are not sure, you can buy a slave and upgrade to master any time by paying the difference between the tool protocols - so you have options, info@viezu.com

On your site it says you can buy protocols for individual vehicles. Does this mean you do not need the full bench protocol?

Thanks for the video. I have one doubt regarding the battery stabilizer. Here you use a CTEK Pro 25. But I've been reading on some forums that the use GYS100 for newer german cars. So I wonder if for starting I can only use the CTEK and if this will work for most brands excluding premium brands (MB, Audi, BMW, etc). Thanks

The CTek 25 pro is a great all round charger, and is ideal for tuning and programming all 12V cars

@@ViezuTechnologies Thanks. I was reading in some forums that newer BMW require larger currents to keep the 13.5 volts when writing and that it takes in some case 1 hr or so. Can I still use ctek for such vehicles?

I am interested in cloning motorcycle ECUs (mostly just one bosch variant). I want to do it via bench mode. How does the subscriptions work? 1-Do I need to renew the subscription every year, even if I am not interested in new updates? 2-Considering the bike master subscription, do I have to pay for each brand/model, or I get every available model? Thanks!

Hi, the subscription would be required to access the support from the manufacturer and to take advantage of new protocols and releases. The Bike protocols would come as a group and would unlock all available bike protocols at the time of activation and any new bike protocols released whilst the tool remains in subscription.
