How exactly 😂 You can’t , it’s simple Put into D or R , release handbrake - off you go ( Youl never use neutral - no need. Come to a stop 🛑- Press P lift Handbrake…

For real, it's self explanatory.

The sport MODE changes the settings for the gears so you get more performance and torque as well as locking down the suspension for a more road feel/tight ride. The sport TRANSMISSION is basically letting you shift gears either using the center stick or the paddle shifters so you can drive in a clutchless manual shifting fashion. FUN times!

Correction* obviously I move it to the left but do I have to manually shift up and down or will it do that if I don’t...

@@NatsuDragneel-cr3ke So the original developers said, let's make it so that you push forward to go backwards and backwards to go forward...and somehow they all agreed that this sounded right.

After driving it I understand why it was set up this way. As you accelerate you pull back to upshift which flows with the natural forces of acceleration, likewise when you are braking and downshifting you push forward with the flow of decelerating forces. At the end of the day I would prefer a 3 pedal box but America doesn't get that.

In fact, this is the first automatic I've owned in 20 years and back then they were all standard PRNDL shifters which made sense to me because that's what we grew up with. But I'm struggling with this setup. I have to look at the shifter each time I get in because my brain wants to do the opposite. It's not the end of the world and I know I'll soon get used to it, but I still question it. I understand your comparison to upshifting and accelerating or downshifting to decelerate but I'm not doing either. I'm starting from a standstill and simply selecting whether to move forward or backward. To me the intuitive way to do this is to push the gear selector in the direction that I want to go. Forward for forward and backward for backward. But as I suggested in the original question, I'm probably the only unicorn who thinks this way. 🤷

I had an MX-5 before my BMW 2 series coupe and I thought I would use the paddles to manually shift, but after a while I realised that I was more comfortable in D mode and when I wanted to do sporty driving just putting it in sport mode and that's it. It even detects if you are cornering hard and holds the gear, and that even in Comfort mode... pretty awesome and good engineering going on here.

@@nikko7507 no, its two different things, sport MODE revs up the car a bit more for faster acceleration responses and the stick changes to sport transmission which makes faster gear changes

To go back to D mode just toggle the shift back to drive, and if it already there but you are using the paddles, just move the shifter to the left and back to the right and it will reset to drive.

If you're using the manual function when you shift depends on where you like the rpms to stay but never shift at or above the redline continuously. If it's just sport mode and still in drive it will shift on its own.

Imagine babysitting rich kids and the parents leave you the car and you can’t get them from school because you can’t get out of park

With the paddles all you have to do to engage them is click up or down and it then it is in manual mode or you can move the gear lever to S/M and push forward or pull back and then use the paddles. Now the modes sport and sport+ are just suspension and engine settings, also sport+ partly disables traction control. Hope this helps.
