Installing the deckboards was an extremely fast process once we had this Camo Deck System. It had a screw hole in each side of the tool so my wife and I were able to secure Camo screws into each side of the deck board at the same time and move quickly through the project.
It's really as easy as squeezing the handle on the Camo tool and popping a special screw onto each side. Then drill in the screw with the bit that comes in the box. Make sure you align the tool over a joist so the screw has something to attach onto, obviously.
Enjoy your brand new deck! Big or small.

I used this system on a hardwood deck 3 years ago. It came up looking amazing. I get comments about it all the time including from tradies, builders etc. Some other tips - predrilled the hardwood as I was worried it would split the timber and make sure you put the screw furtherest from your last board first. It just helps to push the board up against the previously secured board for a more accurate spacing.

Great advice Craig. It took me a few boards to begin starting the screws on the opposing side of the board. Definitely keeps the spaces tight and consistent.

Has anyone used a different tool outside of the CAMO Brand? This one worked great but just curious to see what else is out there. Please consider subscribing 👉 kzfaq.info.

Looks great but I have one question. Did not see this covered in the advertising material. What do you do when 2 boards butt? Guessing you must drill a hole so the board doesn't split? The documentation says to keep screws one inch from the board end.

Can anyone tell me if I have other brand composite screws, if I can still use this tool? Would they fit in the shaft? (Maybe if I have an extension and mark the exact length)

There is a way to minimize the face screws on the board against the house using the Camo Marksman Pro. The X1 tool, by the way leaves a 1/16" gap - better for boards that will shrink

Curious why no rim joints board on this deck? Even using a sleeper set up for the joints, still should have a rim joist I would think to keep the deck square over time.

I'm replacing 10 yr old deck boards that were face screwed and rotted the wood and the screws at entry point. how is your deck holding up?

I have 2 decks now that I've used with this, both are doing great (although they're only a year old now). I will consider sealing the wood on a yearly basis to maintain it with a quick paint roller. Good luck!

Best tools are the ones that don't require any set up, like this one. I was shocked that the plastic case around the tool didn't require a chainsaw to open it up. Another plus for this tool!

Get this same Camo jig, but the one with 1/16" spacing, which is the one this guy should have been using for wet pressure treated boards. The 3/16" spacing jig as seen on this video is for composite or pvc decking.

I can see one problem right away. Treated lumber shrinks considerably as it dries out. That's why you're supposed to install the deck boards right up against one another -- no gap. Over time the boards shrink and you end up with a nice gap. With this device, though, you're going to end up with a HUGE gap. Not sure how you're going to get around that problem.

Use the CAMO Marksman Pro -X1. It spaces the boards only 1/16 inch.

You definitely should. Pressure treated still expands and contracts. Even composite decking has gaps...

@@KellyConcepts no.. pressure treated lumber shrinks extremely. I do it for a living. If you put 3/16-in Gap it'll turn into 1/2". I'm installing a redwood deck and that would be gapped
