How to use the New! Cricut Mug Press for Tumblers

Please note that this video is in no way affiliated with Cricut Brand and is simply my way of subbing tumblers. If anyone has an alternative way of doing it, please post a video for us all to see.
In this video, I will be showing you all how I use the Cricut mug press and a piece of cardboard to press a 20oz tumbler. I absolutely love the finish of my tumblers using this press instead of the other mug press I have which stinks really bad and doesn’t provide a consistent even finish like this one does. You’ll notice that there is some ghosting on my top but that’s user error not due to the press itself.
Also, once I was done recording the video I realized that you may be able to use the silver plate at the bottom to stamp your tumblers and coffee mugs with your logo, website or whatever it is that you would like to put at the bottom. This is for all the people that have mentioned wanting to put their logo at the bottom of their tumblers. I will post a review on this at a later date.

Awesome video and I appreciate that you let us know that we need to register our new mug machines. You were the only one that I've heard after watching atleast 10 videos on this new mug machine by Cricut. Mine is being delivered tomorrow so I may seriously be thinking of getting into the whole sublimation game after seeing the brighter colors it does so I'll be starting with the infusible inks first. Love them!! I saw another crafter use a silicone mat cut to the size you want instead of cardboard because they got tired of having to keep cutting a piece to fit in there. Then you could use the silicone over and over again.

Yes, I have been saying that I am going to use a silicone mat. However, I just keep using what I already have on hand. One of these days, I'll get my hands on something better than cardboard lol!

I cannot believe that no other KZfaqrs haven't started making videos of doing the tumblers in the Cricut Mug Press after your GENIUS discovery!!! I keep coming back to your channel hoping you've made more videos of this technique. Have you gotten the silicone wrap yet and if so, have you tried it and does it then make the fit inside the press better/tighter? I'm dying to see you do this!! LOL Also, only question....I noticed that you have the ASub paper exposed. Typically everything I've seen so far in my learning about making subbed tumblers is that you need to add additional paper/protection of some sort so that when the ink bleeds out from heating, it has a barrier so that you don't leave an imprint on your press. You haven't had an issue with that?

Hi Patti, thank you so much for your interest. I haven't received my silicone wraps in the mail just yet. 😞 However, as soon as I receive them, I will post a video on this method. Stay tuned for more content coming soon! As far as the blowout paper, no I havent found it necessary to use with either mug press I use when doing tumblers. I haven't had any issues with blowouts or ink spilling over onto my heating elements. Hopefully that continues to be the case 🤞🏾😉

No you can use any sublimation blanks as long as they aren't too big (diameter) to fit into the press.

Have you used cricut infusible ink sheets on tumblers yet? I don’t have a sublimation printer so I order some transfer ink sheets and I didn’t want to ruin a cup of they didn’t work. Thanks for your videos and help! You’re so very appreciated!

Hi Courtney! No I haven't tried those because l feel that I have more options using sublimation printing versus the infusible ink sheets. However, I would like to try it out just to see how well they will work with tumblers.

No, my timer tends to have a mind of its own when pressing tumblers. So I usually set my timer on my phone for 1min and 30sec. for each side.

I have watched your video. Curious about your time. Are you first timing it as you go along somewhere or are you doing it as you playing it by ear? and also I didnt here the press tell you it was done. So I am assuming all of the features for finishing is not being used from the machine itself. oh use Parchment paper on the bottom for you cup not to scrape it.. saw that on another video... I just use the same dimensions for most 20oz tumblers. 9.3"x8.1"

i have had 3 Cricut mug press replaced and I just went to press some mugs after not using the last one for 6 weeks and it would not start up. I have only used a few 11 oz mugs with it and never glass. Have you any experience with this? I have 3 different press with no problems and they press glass and ceramic. I hate to call these presses junk and recommend people not to buy as Cricut usually produces good products.

Unfortunately, a Canon won’t work for sublimation. You need to look for a Sawgrass or Epson (certain models).

This is a straight tumbler. I believe you may be able to do a slight taper. You would just have to adjust the tumbler so that it slightly leans over.

I use Silhouette Studios to design/resize my images then print on A-sub Eco paper. I use an Epson ET2720 printer.

Do you think you could use a piece of the rubber material that comes with your traditional heat press or maybe a small pressing pillow instead of the cardboard to make it a tighter fit?
