Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%:
Targets - Regulates Sebum, Minimizes Pores
Format - Water-Based Serum
Regimen Step - Before Oils/Creams
Conflicts - Pure Vitamin C (ELAA/LAA)
Time of Use - AM and PM

Good day! I'm from the Philippines, the ordinary was introduced by my sister in law. I use the same product as well as I do the routine you did in this video. Its been like 1yr and how many months since I used the product. It really helped my skin look brighter and less breakouts also it even makes the scar look less visible. ☺️ Thank you for this information and the video about fake and what not differences help me a lot in comparing.It really is difficult to buy an original product. ☺️

Yes, that's fine! How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin. It’s fine to use both types of exfoliants (AHA and BHA) as part of your skin care routine - you can use them at the same time, alternate days of usage, or use one in the morning and one at night, depending on your preference.

Yeah, you can add Glycolic acid to your routine. For scars, it depends on the scars as this is always a trickier part to see improvements as there are different treatments that may or may not work for you....Have a look at Retinoid/Retinol and combine it with Glycolic Acid. For under eye bags, I'm not sure what will work as I don't have bags myself🤷🏼‍♀️

Hey! :) Please do not use Glycolic Acid and Buffet + Copper Peptides in the same routine, keep them separate. Buffet + Copper Peptides (and all the other Ordinary Peptide serums) conflict with AHA and BHA (exfoliating acids) and Vitamin C. So you can use Buffet + Copper Peptides and Niacinamide in the same routine and/or Glycolic Acid and Niacinamide.

@@nnayaf And what are your results? Yes, 😞 But what you can do is looking for an alternative, you may wish to buy a cleanser with Salicylic Acid in it. What I would recommend is using the Salicylic Mask twice a week. And probably wait until the solution it's back in stock. Or you need to buy the one from Paula's Choice, but that's just crazy expensive, and I think it's not worth it. But I would rather wait until the Ordinary Salicylic Acid Solution is back in stock, and like I said, to use the mask as an alternative. Hello John, Technically it would help if you did not use the AHA (Glycolic Acid) with your retinol serum, as this can lead to irritation. Usually, it is fine initially, but your skin can become sensitive after a while. So my advice is to alternate days. Example: Monday: Cleanse Glycolic Acid Moisturizer suitable for your normal to dry skin (No retinol, no Exfoliating acids) e.g. Paula's Choice Omega + Moisturizer Tuesday Cleanse Olay Regenerist retinol 24-night moisturizer Wednesday: Cleanse Glycolic Acid Moisturizer suitable for your normal to dry skin (No retinol, no Exfoliating acids) e.g. Paula's Choice Omega + Moisturizer Etc. of course, you need to adjust the frequency accordingly to the changing needs of your skin, but that would be a great start :)

@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
No, all I'm saying is that I recommend not using your Glycolic Acid and Retinol Moisturizer in the same routine. Alternate between them in your evening routine. Use a non-Retinol moisturizer after your Glycolic Acid such as Paula's Choice Omega moisturizer, however, this can also be a different one. Glycolic Acid helps to loosen the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin while Retinol helps to speed up the cell turnover and also leads to a 'sort of' exfoliating part, but they work differently.

AHAs are also recommended for oily skin, blackheads and large pores...
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Жыл бұрын
No, they are not. They only work on the surface of the skin, so they will not be very effective for controlling oiliness or reducing the appearance of enlarged pores unless there is a significant buildup of dead skin cells. Unfortunately, they are also not effective for blackheads that are already present since they cannot penetrate deeply enough to have an impact. However, it should be noted that there is no proper testing available to confirm their effectiveness in this regard.

Yes, that's okay. Just keep the frequency of Glycolic Acid in mind, don't overdo it. Start with 2-3 times a week and adjust it accordingly to your skin needs. How Many Times A Week Should You Exfoliate: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l7qEgJyptd2nmp8.html If you have real scars, the topical products cannot help you; you need to see a doctor. The products can only help you smoothen the skin and accelerate the healing process of dark spots by removing the dead skin cells and increasing the cell turnover! @MelissaVanDijkOfficial

The order of application is correct!😊 However, does it say anything about the % of AHA and BHA of your face wash? Since when using the Ordinary toner (which isn't really a toner, it's still an exfoliator as it contains 7% of Glycolic Acid (AHA) in it...) I recommend using a gentle/neutral cleanser that doesn't contain AHA and/or BHA in it...it may be too strong as it's like you would double exfoliate the skin.

@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 29 күн бұрын
Avoid using glycolic acid and salicylic acid in the same routine. Use both in the evening but on different days, and monitor the frequency to avoid or reduce over-exfoliation. Use niacinamide in the morning. Additionally, pay attention to your diet to reduce the chances of acne returning. Avoid consuming too much added sugar, processed food, and fast food. Also, be aware of any food intolerances, such as soy, milk, bread (gluten), eggs, and chicken.

I'm glad that I could help😊 Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% cannot be used alongside any pure or ethylated forms of Vitamin C. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% can only be used alongside Vitamin C derivatives: - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% - Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% The Ascorbic acid 8% + Alpha arbutin 2% should not be used in the same routine when using Niacinamide. Please use one of them in the AM and the other one in the PM😊

Hey :) Use your moisturiser before applying Azelaic Acid! The rest of your routine looks good! :) Keep in mind: How often you can exfoliate your skin with Glycolic Acid depends on your skin concerns and tolerance. Some people can do this daily whereas others prefer to do this only 2-3 times per week. Start slowly, see how it goes and based on that adjust the frequency of it! :)

Hey! :) Both are exfoliating acids. You may just want to stick to one for a while before switching or alternating with the other. This way, you can see which one your skin prefers most and what works the best for you. I recommend starting with using it 2-3 times per week for some time before increasing its frequency.

@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
🤔 Please, do not do that routine if you have sensitive skin. Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid are not recommended for sensitive skin since they have small molecules that can easily penetrate the skin, leading to stinging and burning. Sometimes Hyaluronic Acid can cause issues too for sensitive skin. And Niacinamide 10% is generally okay. What are you trying to target with the routine? And is your only concern sensitive skin 🤔

t's low strength, so there shouldn't be an issue. But be careful when using higher strength of Retinol. If you do so, either keep Glycolic Acid and Retinol separate or use Granactive Retinoid 2% or 5% since otherwise, it may irritate your skin.

For my night time routine I’ve just started using CeraVe SA cleanser then The Ordinary glycolic acid toner then The Ordinary niacinamide serum but my skin always burns & my acne feels irritated. Is this normal? Is my skin adjusting? Or am I doing something wrong?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
When do you get that burning? After Glycolic Acid or Niacinamide? If you have the SA Renewing Cleanser, it may be best not to use that one when using Glycolic Acid in the same routine since both will exfoliate your skin. Some people can use them together, whereas others may find this combination too strong. Or it may be Glycolic Acid. If that one alone burns on your skin, it may be too strong/ you might be better off with Salicylic Acid (BHA) instead of or like the Ordinary Mandelic Acid.

It depends on what you do during the day. If you have a lot of sun exposure, then a higher SPF factor is always better. However, if you just spend brief periods outside, then SPF 20 or 30 is more than enough. Personally, I generally only use SPF 20 or 30, but it really depends a lot on your lifestyle. Therefore, you need to adjust accordingly.

Hey again😊 AM Routine: - Cleanse - Niacinamide - EUK - (Optional) Moisturiser - SPF Keep in mind that the conflicts of EUK are those: Do not use with highly acidic treatments, Pure Vitamin C (EAA/LAA), and Buffet + Copper Peptides 1%. - So do not use it in the same routine as Glycolic Acid. PM Routine: - Cleanse - Glycolic Acid - Rose Hip Seed Oil - (Optional) Moisturiser The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin.

Also, if you are new to Glycolic Acid, use it at first every other day (like 3 times per week) for a while and see how your skin will respond before using it more often! Hey😊 What kind of Vitamin C serum do you use? Also, when using the Cerave SA Cleanser, please do not use it when using either Glycolic Acid or the Peeling Solution this may irritate the skin and acts like “double” exfoliating the skin. You can use the Cerave SA cleanser + Benzoyl Peroxide or a “gentle” cleanser then use the Glycolic Acid + Benzoyl Peroxide in the same routine. AM Routine: - Cleanse - Hyaluronic Acid - Vitamin C Serum - Moisturiser - SPF PM Routine: - Cleanse - Glycolic Acid (only when not using the SA Cleanser) - Niacinamide - Benzoyl Peroxide - (Optional) Moisturiser PM 2 Routine (1-2 times per week): - Cleanser (do not use the SA Cleanser) - Peeling Solution - Hyaluronic Acid - (Optional) Moisturiser Also, please do not use the SA Cleanser or Glycolic Acid when using the peeling solution. How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin. Hope this helps🥰

i have dry, sensitive skin and i recently bought: cerave hydrating cleanser (non foaming) glycolic acid 7% toning solution amino acids + b5 I’ve been using the glycolic acid once a day but in the morning however i’ve read that it’s safer to use it in the night. My skin has pretty much stayed the same but i fear that it’s gotten worse, i’ve got like really small bumps on my cheeks and a few on my forehead. Is the glycolic acid breaking me out? What ordinary products do you think i should buy or use as an alternative? Please let me know thank you :)

You are likely overusing the product. And if you use this product in the morning and leave the house and are exposed to the sun, you should use sunscreen. Otherwise, it may harm your skin. (it mentions it on the back of the packaging) My recommendation would be not to use Glycolic Acid for 1-2 weeks, and after that, start with 2-3 times a week and see how your skin reacts. @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you so much for your reactivity ☺️☺️ I don't know if you have covered that topic in one of your videos, but would you have any recommandation for sun protection for the face? I have used one for a couple of days but it makes my skin look extra greasy. 😬 Could you tell me which one you use on a daily basis ?

Yes, I recommend using Nivea Sensitive SPF 50+ or Anessa Milk sunscreen :) Generally, you need to test a few and see which one you like most; it is very individual :)

Hey, yes you can😊 but before you're doing this: If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another.

Hey, I brought these and do them in this order: Cerave SA cleanser “Buffet” niacinamide hyaluronic acid Moisture I was also wondering if I can use glycolic acid toner, and salicylic acid that exfoliates in this routine. Also, what spf do you recommend?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
Are you new to acids (AHA and BHA)? If so, this is what I recommend: If you want to incorporate leave-on exfoliators (other acids like AHA or BHA), I always recommend using a gentle/neutral cleanser that doesn't include those acids so that you can add a leave-on exfoliator in the routine without worrying it being too strong/harsh or over-exfoliating the skin. And since you are already using the Cerave SA Cleanser which already includes Salicylic Acid (BHA), I do not recommend using another exfoliator. However, if you are not new to those acids: How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Currently, I'm really liking the La Roche Posay ANTHELIOS ULTRA-LIGHT INVISIBLE FLUID SPF30
