How to Use the Perspective Grid and Perspective Selection Tools in Illustrator CC

I don’t think I have ever used the perspective grid, but it’s good to have a quick refresher course. I like the fact that you can have editable text on the grid. It’s a shame it doesn’t have a function to extrude or bevel a shape or text.

can i move the perspective grid to other artboard?? bcoz i've tried but failed

Yes! The Perspective Grid can be moved from one Artboard to another. Get on the Perspective Grid Tool, then click and drag the Ground Plane widget (bottom and far right).

Can any of you experts answer these questions? 1. I'm stuck on Step 0. The perspective grid appeared outside of the artboard; how do you MOVE the perspective grid? 2. I keep pulling the diamond to extend my grid, but it only shows the grid extended a little bit (you can see it on 1:45) and won't show the rest of the grid. What gives?

For your first question, get on the Perspective Grid Tool, then click and drag on one end of the Ground Level line to move it. Unfortunately I don't have a good answer for your second question - I agree we should be able to see more of it!

Doesn't work for me. I created a graphic I wanted to put onto the perspective grid but when I try to move it onto the grid using the perspective selection tool, the graphic will not move.

You'll need to be on a perspective tool (Shift V). When you start watching from this point in the video, what part (timestamp) do you get stuck on? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f812qN2nrqyaonU.html

@@GDHT i found out the issue. I guess you cannot move a graphic that used the gradient mess tool onto a perspective grid.

@@Milkyv4 very weird! Looks like you're right - I had the same issue. You could rasterize the gradient mesh and then do an envelope distort...but yes, unfortunately at the moment the other method isn't possible.

Same issue even with 23.6.1 It also doesn't work with a clipping mask.

This absolutely doesn't work for me...when i import a file. a png, it will not apply itself to the 3d lines.. it does nothing. I can make the outline blue, but i cant select it, or do anything with it.

This will only work with vector - PNG is a raster. You could rasterize the PNG, though.
