Is there a way to delete the white background in affinity designer?

@@peace.n.blessings5579 Yes, by going to document setup, either under File, or the top menu bar when the move tool is selected. Click the Color Tab in the middle of the pop up window, and at the bottom select, Transparent background. Same spot when you create a New document. Hope that helps!

I received an email from Affinity and was told I could upgrade for free to Designer. There was also an offer that said I could get all three V2 Upgrades for $49.99 for desktop. Well, I did. I also was able to upgrade my Ipad apps with the same activation code they sent. Needless to say, I lucked out yesterday.

Great tutorial. Could u make tutorial on how to create different kind of cups? Coffee cup with coffee in it, cup with ice in it, cup with whipped cream on top, alcohol beverages drinking cup

This is a great tutorial and a great feature. I'd love the option to create shapes from curves/strokes as well as full shapes that loop.

you can hit "Enter" after selecting the areas you want, so it creates the form.

What can the shape builder tool do, that you can't already do with the boolean operations (add, subtract etc)? I'm genuinely interested, as I have v1 designer and looking for reasons to upgrade 😁 great vid and thank you for uploading.

It seems to handle more intricate things a bit easier and is a little more intuitive with selecting what areas to keep or get rid of. However, I still do use the Add, Subtract, for simple shapes. I guess it depends on what type of work you create, as to whether the extra ease of use would be worth it. Thanks for your comment!

Here is the problem - how did you created those ellipses first. I have tried a few times and failed each time at the end with this infinite sign. Are those elipses just eliptic shapes with thick strokes, or rings rather build from two ellipses and added to create ine ellipse? Please advise!

I created two circles with the ellipse tool, duplicated them below and added a thicker stroke. I then selected all 4 circles and expanded stroke, so you could create rings if you'd like, I then used the shape builder tool to select just the areas I wanted leaving the two gaps alone. I am working on a more in depth video covering this and more. I hope this helps, let me know if you need any further clarification.

I'm struggling w/this one - at the top in the shape builder/context tool bar from L-R there is: Action w/ +/-/create new shape button, Drag method which has a drop down menu of : freehand/line/marquee, clean up w/a drop down menu of: internal curves, connected curves & all unused geometry & then a Use style from first selected area box to either tick or untick. Made the ellipse & put them as you have them, but when I select all shapes I'm not seeing the same stuff that you're showing - WTH am I doing wrong here??

Hmm thats a tough one without being able to see your screen. The only thing I can think of, is that the shapes have to be selected first, then grab the Shape Builder Tool, to highlight the areas you want to add. I use the Move Tool to select all the shapes or you can select them using Crtl and selecting them in the layers panel. I hope that helps, and thank you for watching, all the best!

I feel silly asking this question, but how do you create a circle line - without fill - where the circle is like a dashed line. Sort of like a donut with pieces of donut eaten here and there.

Not at all. After using the ellipse tool to create a perfect circle by holding shift. You can go to the color panel on the right side. And in the upper left corner of the panel you can set a stroke or fill for the circle. And in the stroke panel you can select the the style option at the top of the menu to dashed line. @@njvalenteart Thank you. I have a PNG image. I want to but a circle around it, but with the spaces in the circle uneven - not so close together as the option you gave. How would I do that? Do you happen to have a video that shows something like that? Thank you!

@@dawnjohnson8739 You can paly around with the option at the bottom of the stroke panel, where it says dash. I entered 4, 8, 0, 0 and it spaced out the dashes, however, they are still all equal distance. I would have to experiment more. I do not have a video covering that topic, but I may need to go ahead and make one. Sorry I couldn't be more help. If you would like to send me an email, I maybe able to help you more that way. @@njvalenteart I figured it out. Create circle, then go to Persona and erase circle in place to create a discontinuous circle :-)
