I think an often overlooked usage of 'se' for newcomers to Spanish is that it can be used in the reflexive even when the aspect of it being reflexive is not as clear as things like ella se baña. For example, if I were to say, "The clothes look nice", it would be, "la ropa se ve bien". In English it's just said that they look nice, but in Spanish the action of looking must be clearly stated to be done by the clothes on it's own and therefore se is used... because it's not as if the clothes have eyes to literally look at something, but rather look in the sense of appearing on it's own. It took me a long time to realize this, and hopefully I can help others who read this comment.

Thank you for explaining that. Something just clicked in my brain. I seriously needed to learn more about the word se and all it’s uses. I would often get confused when I would hear it and have a hard time following the conversation, trying to figure out the meaning of se and other pronouns. I think I need to spend a day or 2 and really practice Spanish pronouns exclusively.

Sus películas me han resultado muy útiles a la hora de enseñar inglés a hispanohablantes. Muchas escuelas desaconsejan el uso de la gramática en las clases de L2, pero yo no lo hago. He descubierto que la mayoría de los estudiantes de idiomas carecen de conocimientos gramaticales en su lengua materna, lo que les deja sin nada a lo que referirse, algo comparable para hacer comparaciones más sencillas. Así que, una vez más, gracias. :)

Yeah, the reciprocal pronoun can be used with other pronouns too and not just with 'Se' for example, 'Nos escribimos las cartas cada año' for 'We write to each other letters every year. Or 'Os decis sobre asuntos mismos antes de la leccion' for 'You guys talk to each other over the same topics before class time'.

Hi, could i have a question? In theses 2 sentence: Todos se conocían entre sí and Todos se conocían. Do they both mean everyone knows each other? Does entre si' make it sounds any different. Thank you. Love you channel!

Esta es la cosa muy dificiles para mí en español. Hoy leí una oración esto: Se lo juro. Piensé que esta oracion deberia solo "Lo juro" (I swear it), así que por qué "Se"? Quizás, entonces, que la oración es "I swear it *to you*? Sí?

Exactamente Jonathan! El SE en 'se lo juro' estaría refiriéndose a 'a usted'. Mira este ejemplo: le juro que no dije nada - se lo juro

Sí, es cierto. La traducción al inglés de 'Juan lo compró para ella' es 'Juan bought it for her' Y cuando decimos en español 'Juan se lo compró' no podemos traducir al inglés 'Juan bought her it', no funciona. Pero en español sí podemos reemplazar los dos el objeto directo y el objeto indirecto con un pronombre al mismo tiempo. El problema es que cuando reemplazamos los dos objetos por un pronombre no podemos decir 'le lo - le la - le los - le las' (lelo en realidad significa lento de mente), tenemos que decir se lo- se la - se los - se las. Y lo mismo pasa con les lo - les la - les los - les las. Este tema se merece una lección separada. Voy a hacer una video lección con este tema. Así que espero poder ayudarte a comprender esto mucho mejor muy pronto.

Siento discrepar, pero no existen los "verbos reflexivos", sino estructuras sintácticas en la que un verbo transitivo tiene como sujeto activo y complemento directo a la misma persona. Por ejemplo, _peinar._ Este es un verbo transitivo que puede tener también como complemento directo a una persona diferente de quien ejecuta la acción, como en _Juan peina a Ana, Juan la peina,_ ¿Debería decirse que ahora no es un "verbo reflexivo"? Es decir, ¿ _peinar_ es a veces reflexivo y a veces no? Lo que debería decirse es que ciertas estructuras con verbos transitivos pueden tener carácter reflexivo si el sujeto y el complemento directo son la misma persona.

It would be much better if you explained only by English. When you jump from English to Spanish, I lose my concentration. If I understod that Spanish you use i would not listen you here.
