When using the tool for stock trading ? What does lot size imply and how is it calcualted ?

Another good video. I'm starting to use TV but mine doesn't bring up a buy or sell order when I "right click". Just "Template, Visual order, clone, copy, lock, hide, remove, etc". That would make it so much easier to enter the orders from there. So much to learn!

Make sure you’re connected to your broker when you right click! Sometimes if you’re not connected the buy/sell won’t show

I am going insane. Have no idea how to place an order on TV so I came here. I use the range tool to set my stop and take profit but then when I do like he says here to right click and select "Create limit order", my TV doesn't have that option. There is nothing to let me place an order. I think I'm going to go insane. It's like TV doesn't want people to actually trade.

Do you have a broker connected to your TradingView? You have to make sure a broker is connected to be able to place orders (or you can try with the TradingView Paper Trading)

Same as me. I don't have a broker connected but I am paper trading via TV. And Kevin was doing it thru a paper trading account. (I believe the guy in the video's name is Kevin.) Let me know if you find out how to do it, this video isn't that old.

Hey, I think I just figured it out. Make sure you're on a tradeable stock. Not sure what I was on but when I switched to AAPL, then right clicked, it came up. Hope that helps!!

This position TOOL is just that, a tool for allocation. The next step is to place the ORDER in whichever method you have learned to do so. I prefer the CROSS button and sometimes the BUY and SELL buttons as well.😊

The cross is SUPER useful! I too love to use it, very quick order entry AT a specific price instead of buying/selling market. The position tool is helpful too in the sense it can do the “math” for us. We can put in our “risk” and when we extend the stop it’ll calculate how many contracts we will look to risk!

i have been trying to get this tool to display the correct contract amount to buy, looking at the qty listed on the tool. And it is just wrong all the time. and I just dont understand. It tells me, for max loss of $300 at 15 tick SL to enter in with 100+ contracts. The only way I can ever get it to change is by adjusting the lot size. Which entering 50 for lot size seems to make the qty line up accurately, but Im so uncertain that I do not feel safe using this tool at all currently. If you know why it is behaving this way PLEASE fill me in. So frustrated.

Hmm, I’m not sure. Are you trading futures? Try to keep quantity at 1, and make sure for risk it’s USD not %

@@bullishbearstrading yeah, trading es and nq. Leaving lot size at one makes the qty to enter with wrong.

With ES NQ if you’re running a 300$ risk (which is very tight especially for say NQ) it will probably tell you something like .7 contracts. At that point you’ll trade 7 MICROS

@@bullishbearstrading yeah but it will tell me something like 120 contracts where qty is listed. Adjusting the lot number fixed it. I've done the math while moving it around different places and the $/tick is correct for the suggested qty it shows. 5 lots for micros 50 lots for minis

Terrible! You kept stating what this tool is telling you but it was not telling you anything you stated. For instance towards the end of the video you hovered over the top of the box/tool and said it was showing you that you were risking $750 and it was not showing that! The box was showing "2.50 (0.05%) 99250".....where in those numbers do you see $750? WTF?

The account size was 100,000 so if the risk is 750 then that’s the 99,250
