How to use VA Form 21-2680 to support a claim for VA Aid and Attendance

In this short video, I'll discuss VA Form 21-2680, which is a doctor's examination report in support of a claim for VA Aid and Attendance.
We'll discuss 2 of the several different VA aid and attendance and housebound benefits, one in the context of a non-service connected pension enhancement and the other in the context of special monthly compensation (SMC-L) addition to a 100% VA service connected disability rating.
This video is meant to be an introduction only - there is so much more to learn about VA Form 21-2680 and VA aid and attendance than can be covered in this short video.

I just had a C&P for complex sleep apnea and narcolepsy, was recently diagnosed with it. I am currently at 100% for ptsd. Can aid and Attendence be assigned from a C&P? Or does the veteran always have to apply for it?

I already have my wife certified for aid and assistance! It pays about $176 a month- how is this possible if she needs much more help than that! I am 100 % P&T and taking care of her!!! How and when does this benefit actually help with “aid and attendance”?

my friend has been legally blind since 11/2018. we never knew this benefit was available. I've moved in to help him get around and take him to the drs appt. If he applies for the Aid and Attendance, can we apply for retro pay?

I am not the creator of this video however if you have not already you should have your friend call the VA and do what is called an intent to file.. when you do that if they are are approved it gets retrod to that date as long as it's filed and gone through within one year. I just learned you can call the VA to do the Intent to file (there is also a form you can get online)

Mom Died before we got a dime but the benefit had been approved. Dad had passed in 2016 Any recourse for the siblings

How do I submit the actual claim? - I have submitted form 21-2680 and received letter frm VA confirming receipt of form 21-2680 + supporting documents. However, there is no info re what I must now do to submit a claim(?) Letter frm VA advises I must now submit an application for benefits (re Veteran spouse need for housebound aid & attendance). Which form do I use? No information exists advising the form & follow-up steps to submit a claim.

VA 21-2680 question #30 DOES THE CLAIMANT REQUIRE NURSING HOME CARE? my spouse is my caregiver and I am applying for Aid and Attendance. I don't have an in home nurse, should my doctor answer yes or no to this question? can a psychologist fill out this DBQ or does it have to be a family medicine doctor? TIA for any feedback

My ex husband retired after 20 years of army duty. We were married the whole time and later divorced. I have been receiving one half of his retirement for 20 years. He has remarried and I am single. My question if he dies before me will I still receive half of his retirement or all of it or will it go to his new wife who had nothing to do with his active duty status.

It should still go to you because your not remarried, and should've been stated in your divorce papers as well.

Can you work a normal job making $30-$100k and recieve aid and attendance SMC L? Even if you already get statutory housebound?

Especially if you have all the evidence at hand? Been hearing mixed info on that and alot of fear from veterans on loosing their p&t status

Hello sir. I was recently denied SMC-L by the higher level review officer because she said even though I’m 100% combine rating I actually needed a single rating to be at 100%. I explained to her that the CFR doesn’t state that and also explained to her that I’ve been in the VA caregiver program since 2013 at the highest tier and was still denied only because I don’t have a single disability at 100% but after looking at the VA manual M21-1 IV.2.H.8.C it clearly shows I don’t need a single 100% disability but she said I qualified medically but not fully with a single 100% rating. Can you help me clarify this or maybe guide me as to if I even have a chance at an appeal

Do not confuse SMC S and SMC L. Heard seen L gramted on less that a hundo. Say you got chloroacne itchy ass skin that you need help with A&A can be granted.
