Wow love your videos very informative and concise, thank you, beautiful specimens, please when u cut the tops of your plastic bags cut the tops again so they're not circular anymore to avoid wildlife getting strangled in them in landfills...and anything that you throw away that has same strangling effect. Hi costakaloidas, No it wont work on a section that already has had growth or flowered in the past. Make sure to use ones that have never had growth on it and that its a new spine.

Should you remove the rest of the spines on the rootstock or should that be left until the scion takes?

I personally keep them on after a graft for 10 days. If I notice that the v cut graft has taken. Then I will remove all the other spines to now only focus growth into that graft. I do this because if the graft fails, I can re-use that rootstock to graft again without having to use another one. If you end up cutting out all the spines, you can always use it to cleft graft after! 😁

Once I remove the pieces off from the rootstock I don't graft it back. I will only graft the new spines that I have interest in producing.

Hola amigo, te recomiendo cortar las espinas si una vez que sabes que tu injerto es exitoso. Lo dejaría encendido durante 10 días y después de eso puedo saber si la columna vertebral del injerto está viva o si se va a caer. Si se cae, reutilizaré el portainjerto para hacer los v injertos de corte nuevamente. Si tiene éxito y permanece encendido, cortaré todas las espinas restantes en el portainjerto para enfocar la energía solo en la parte injertada.

I have just started grafting ,and I have been putting cut paste over the exposed edges of the scion and graft material. It is a still too early to see any results. Has anyone else tried doing this??

hi. just curious, what is the purpose of grafting (from fruit) on an existing dragon plant on your pot? is the one on the pot old and won't grow and bear fruit anymore? are theythe same variety? thanks.

Might be a late reply but maybe future growers will find this info useful. I believe you only graft when you have a small stem, that doesn’t have enough plant parts to actually plant it. The other reason is that certain species of dragon fruit have better roots to absorb and distribute nutrients. And when you graft a species with inferior roots, its fruits will be better in comparison to utilizing its natural roots.

Grafting a piece from fruit that you've bought will give you a clone of the plant that your fruit came from. It will produce the exact same fruit as the fruit you bought. So with less common varieties you can grow a new cloned plant from a small piece.
