Try putting the screen to your face and moving it away see if that helps

I look at the tip of my nose with the image behind my nose in the background, then tilt my head down and keep my eyes at the center of the screen. Once my eyes see the image they stay crossed.

For me the crossing eyes method was very easy cuz I started to see the hidden image within 2 seconds, but it comes inverted. I find diverging much harder to learn yet it has an advantage because you will be able to see the image much brighter as it pops out of the screen.

Haha! I was thinking I was alone.... First I tried with the "official" method, them I realized I just ad to move a single eye to superpose the rows^^ 2 seconds too.

A trick I use to see these images is to view these on my iPad or computer, then turn on my phone’s flashlight, shine it at the picture but hold it behind & above my head. Finally, I focus on the light reflecting in the screen and in about 3 seconds the image pops out. It helps me focus my sight on a spot past the image.

Thank you! I was just reading Bill Bryson’s book The Body, the chapters on the brain in the eye, and I became curious about those Magic Eye pictures that I saw when I was in college. The first video I watched explained “how”it works, but didn’t help me to see it. Your explanation, particularly the part where you hold your fingers up, both versions… That really helped me to get it. Thank you so much!

Just a question. When ever i bring it up to my face and slowly move it away, i see the 3d image coming out at me. However when i go cross eyed and the refocus, i see the backround coming out at me (like if someone cut a butterfly shaped hole jna piece of paper). Any clue why this happens??

What I do is scan through the image, horizontally, and look for identical, duplicated images; then, I move my eyes until the two images merge into one.

I used to have books of these as a kid in the 90's. About 20 years ago, though, I had permanent nerve damage where my eyes don't work together correctly. I haven't been able to see the hidden images ever since. 😢

The finger technique worked for me. Its a bit hit and miss but I think it just requires a lot of eye training to get it more consistently. Loved the camel one at the end. So beautiful :)

I can't get it to work with either of these methods. I have good eyesight, I dunno if I'm doing them wrong or what but still nothing works. Even when I get a bit of double vision with both finger methods, all I see is parts of the image duplicating, but I can't see anything besides that. ughhhhhh

You can’t actually see anything if you have a finger in the way. The finger thing was done to illustrate what you are supposed to do with your eyes ( but without the finger ).

This was so helpful thank you! The pulling away trick worked on the second one! I would describe it like there are two patterned pieces of paper, one is the back ground and one is the the silhouette of the object.

Holy crap I figured it out. Stick your finger right up at your nose and just stare both eyes in the center at the very small bit of the finger you see, your monitor will look like 2 monitors, then move your finger away and your eyes will adjust as you see the image appear.

I just realized, if you look at the cuts in the images, you can kinda see it without having to use cross eyes, the reason why you can’t see it right when you look at it is cus it matches In real well into the backround

My trick is this… Bring screen close to you eyes through your nose and shake until you see the edges, then bring your screen back slowly and you’ll see it 😉

Once you get it, after a while it becomes hard _not_ to see the stereogram. You can blink and look around the picture while holding your gaze. Took me more than a few seconds to get back to normal vision lol.

3:08 The fact that this was definitely *not* what I thought I was supposed to see and only served to piss me off more.😂 I thought the white lines in the previous image were the 3d things people were supposed to see. Do people legit see a butterfly in the last image? Despite my frustration, I still gave the video a thumbs up

Some people from the 90s have moved on from the books and into nature. Performing stereoscopic techniques on the face reveals three eyes, and can be done between two people. Weird science.

Nice ones, being able to see these hidden figures is the closest thing to a superpower, and is something I sometimes flex on my friends who can't lol. Just make sure to work on your audio, background music has to be just that, background and almost unnoticeable. At the start of your video, the music is about as loud as your voice, you do not want to do that, using headphones when editing is a must.

I can only ever see the inversion of the 3D (not popping out at me, going inside) so I can see the effect but the image is less defined. Wish I could figure out how to do it the other way.
