Watching this again...your daughter reminds me of mine - or in this one instance. My daughter almost never wears shoes. She'll go walk down the gravel driveway to the mailbox, walk down the paved gravel road to friends houses, even walk around in the yard when it is 20 degrees or below.

My dog knows when he’s on the prong collar. He walks perfectly when on it so I can’t give any corrections but as soon as he’s in a regular collar he pulls and does whatever

I love your videos! You methods are very similar with our K9 coach back in Russia, who helped to train my chow chow. Now I live in Switzerland and thinking of getting a dog, but I doubt I can find anyone working same way and help to raise an obedient dog. Thank you for sharing your professional secrets! If I end up getting a puppy, I will definitely buy you online courses.

I just got access to some of the training content (puppy essentials) for my ~20 pound puppy that will likely be 50-60 pounds, and plan to start putting this video training to use this week. But I'm really looking forward to the e-collar training. I have two collars I bought maybe a year ago and I've used the beep and vibrate a couple of times, but never the static shock. Our older dog passed and we have a 4 month old dog and I'm trying to get her trained before bad habits set in, so I'm hoping to dig into the puppy essentials more this week. Just off the other videos you have on KZfaq I have the puppy trained to sit and down by hand command, but it's not pretty enough to name yet. I use a voice stay command and it was mostly blind luck, but she took to the stay command very fast and in the 2nd session she was staying well enough I could walk a full circle around her (about 40% of the time) and move totally across the room and keep repeating stay or good, and she's staying 90% of the time until I say "YES" and release her to come get paid. She's very well introduced to the prong collar to where when she even hears me pick up the prong collar, she comes running and sits waiting to get paid. It took some high value treats in the beginning, but I can put the collar on and off with ease and just kibble for the reward. I've just started giving very slight pressure for the sit and down commands, but mainly because when she goes into the down position, she creeps forward and claws at my hand with the food reward. It's almost time to have her nails trimmed again so it's starting to be uncomfortable on the back of my hand. I can tell I'm going to have to build a heelers box for her training soon. I was teaching down using my arm or leg for an obstacle to go under to trick her into a down position, but she just decided to make those things to jump over so I grabbed a 1 step ladder and used that to start teaching the down command, and it works, but I accidentally taught her to do a belly crawl because when I pull my hand out, she does a belly crawl to follow my hand. So, I just took advantage of this accidental crawl and I'm adding that as a new training routine. Thank you for these videos! One condition I had before I agreed to get a new puppy was that this dog would be trained professionally, even if it was just at the local store. Then money became tight so I started talking to a friend across the country that has been training dogs for 45 years and I trust her a great deal, and your videos mirror what she has told me, so I've been watching video after video. It will take a while and patience, but my goal is to have the puppy trained well enough to walk off leach with total control, and for the 4 YO dog to walk loose leash. She's visually impaired so I want to keep her close, and train her to 'cover' or to use that command to have her come between my legs for better control when distractions approach. The visually impaired dog (which will eventually will be total blindness) has never bit anybody, but she has snapped a couple of times when she has a lot of action around her and people just come in and reach in from her blind spots. So I want her to be trained to go between my legs so I can be between my dog and some idiot just reaching in to the dog without asking and ignoring the 'blind dog' harness. No matter how stupid the person reaching in, if they get bit, the dog will be blamed, not the human that acted ignorantly.

Can you do a puppy drop / leave it session? I cant find any on your video list. I love your videos man. You've helped me and my dogs 10 fold. I never thought I'd ever get Aimen to stop pulling. But I did! And now he doesnt pull for anybody ! Now we have to work on his fake aggression towards my parents when they come into his room to let him out for potty time or to eat. He stays in his cage and growls. But only does it to my parents because they let him get away with it. Also I need help on working on his meet and greets. He gets very tense and goes straight to fighting or testing the other dog to see if he wants to submit or not. Even little dogs I've noticed hes hounding over them and being very micro aggressive

I don’t want to drag him but I also don’t want to pick him up and make him think he will just get carried if he doesn’t wanna walk. Do you have any recommendations? Maybe lead him with treats? How to stop pulling without treats
@4evervigilant8

Qs: My Chiweenie who is six years old does really well off leash and looking at me and paying attention; however, when we are on the leash he wants to pull a little bit. Clearly this is my fault because I’ve allowed him to do so for the last 5 1/2 years. I want him to experience his world and sniff around but, again, because of my lack of discipline our walks are not as enjoyable for the both of us because he pulls a lot. Any advice? Also, I live in the Pacific Northwest/western Washington and will be picking up an M staff this coming Saturday… Do you have any recommendations for trainers in or around western Washington? If not I will continue to do my research. I have experience with amp staffs as well as large breeds but I want to make sure I train her well…, That’s train myself to be more disciplined.

Switch to a 2.25mm prong and you can dial in better adjustments with the links coming in and out. May have to order more links to make it fit to begin with

@@AmericanStandardK9 thank you for your replay and btw i love your videos, would the length of hair affect the 2.25 at all? i also have a 2.25 and it didnt seem to be as effective as the 3.0
@wingnutbert9685
@wingnutbert9685 2 жыл бұрын
@@AmericanStandardK9 I came up with, what I think is a game changer when it comes to prong fitting. On my 2.25, I fed a 1/8" threaded quick link through the chain loop of the collar. It goes under the link you attach the leash to, not the dead ring side. On my Pitty, I've got it fed through the chain links, one link down on either side of the leash ring. It makes the collar fit nice and snug so it doesn't rotate on her neck, and stays right behind her ears/jaw. Having the quick link in the collar chain like described has no affect on the action and makes a huge difference with allowing micro adjustments to the size. Perfect cheap and easy solution. Since I can't make a video, and don't have you viewership, perhaps if you made a video on how-to do it, it be great to help people fit there issues. Maybe even encourage Herm S. to let folks know.
