HOW To Walk Your Dog With NO LEASH!

This is an uncut training session showing how to train your dog to walk without a leash. We call this off leash heel since we aren't just asking the dog to stay in our vicinity but to actually walk with us.
We believe that off leash heel should be taught when your dog knows all of the other commands. It is crucial that they can heel well on leash and that they are proficient at off leash come before you start this process. When you start the heel process it is important to know what you are looking for. Heel means the dogs ears are at our side and that they are generally focused forward!
As you can see in the video the trainer is using a short leash that is around three inches long. This gives you something to grab onto to redirect the dog when needed.

Thank you for the demo. I have been working like crazy everyday I walk my poodle to loose leash walk but he still ends up pulling. I need to focus more on working the turns. he's really attentive and very food motivated. My goal is to be able to walk him without a leash but this will take time. Love your video!

Hiya, I've seen your previous videos on Littermate syndrome. I live with my parents and they have a puppy, I also have a puppy from the same litter so I am worried of course. I plan to crate, train and socialise my dog separately from their dog, at what age would this become less of an issue or is it always?

That is a great question Charlie! The issues become much less worrisome with time. The first 16 weeks of the dogs age are incredibly important. That is when most of their socialization is done and is when the groundwork for the rest of their life is laid. After that you can slow down quite a bit week by week and just keep an eye on the issue until mental maturity (12-18 months).

@pattiemcd8790 The reason I asked why they said that is because some people think that anytime a dog is off leash that it will be out of control. We spend a lot of time educating dog owners on how to control their dogs properly so that they can run off leash and truly enjoy their life. Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment!
