@fanchracing is back! He liked his Veyron that we did in TopazSkin so much that he's now sent us his McLaren F1 for TopazSkin!

@@matmul4850 this car is chassis 069, but it has the wrap to look like chassis 043, and 043 was actually sold to a japanese guy that owned the racing team that won le mans with chassi 01R and the colors mimic the livery that 01R had

The only time I saw an F1 out in the wild was at Spa, a Spa Ferrari Days back in the early 2000’s. The owner (British license) drove of with a passenger, from within the paddock. I don’t think it is the same car, as the one I saw (an took foto’s off) had a fine red stripe on the side vents/doors. The F1 is unbelievable.

24 years I’ve been alive, probably 15 of them spent knowing what a Mclaren F1 is. I have seen one ever, and it’s still one of the most memorable times in my life, it’s unbelievable the presence they have.

Bearing in mind how contaminated the wheels were due to the distance travelled...I would have used Iron Out before brushing the wheels or using a mit for the body work. Rinsing and snow foams dont release the iron particles stuck to the surfaces...just an observation...👍

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway. What happens to the water/foam that enters the air intake on the roof?! Do you just have to be really careful or is there a mechanism to stop it entering the engine?

Surely it has been detailed many previous times before. A detailed car and specially black or dark greys will look cleaned even days or weeks after use, if it doesn't rain and be a garage car. A good champoo, the foam wash, and a polished car will retain the fresh and clean look.

It’s not gold leaf. It’s heat insulation tape, adhesive backed. When I worked at Mclaren the we used it on the formula one car, 3m make it

This is what hurts most with the McLaren of today. Nothing at all from McLaren, even touches the aura this F1 left. They make too many cars and they’re not different enough.

the problem you have is that gordon murray had an endless budget in the pursuit of excelllence and they lost money on every car similar to the veyron. mclaren motors is now a business and every car needs to make profit so the days of an f1 is long gone

I've worked in detailing before but I wudnt have the confidence to wash or detail a 30 million dollar mclaren f1. I'm aware of what that car is and means so I'd first check and see if its PPF which wud boost my confidence but still I dont think I'd touch it
