Funny thing what the mind can achieve, he said " I am in this amazing garage" back in 2013 " and than continue " If I have garage like this, don't think my wife will see me again " fast forward 5 years and yes, you have even better - your own garage. So happy for you and others they dream big. Keep pushing and enjoying this beautiful life we have 🙏🏻

My microfiber pad was loaded with shmoo from cleaning up oxidized paint. Tried the method talked about in the video and got somewhat clean, then went ahead and used liquid dish detergent and a nylon bristle brush and scrubbed and repeated and that process removed much more shmoo. I just made sure to thoroughly rinse the pad with cold water several times then gave it the old spin on the machine and left it to air dry. Like new. It amazing how much material the pads hold! Thanks again for the video.

What I do is after each panel immediately throw my pads into a bucket of hot water and oxi clean then grab new pads and move on to the next panel. Then when the whole car is done all my pads have been soaking in the bucket awhile then I wash them out in the fashion Larry is showing. I find this to be a little easier because they have been soaking awhile.

I've been hand washing mine. It's a bit of work but they come out fine. I use Lake Country Snappy Boost. Let them soak in a bucket full of really warm water and snappy boost for a bit then start rubbing at the pad. I used a brush too to help loosen it up. A very soft bristled brush. It didn't seem to damage the pads any, I made sure I brushed them while submerged. They came out looking good so it seems to work. I finished by rinsing them out under the sink and squeezing them out really good then drying them by spinning them on the polisher.

That microfibre towel is now scratch free ;) When I'm cleaning my washmit I usually submerge it for a few hours in the bodywork shampoo (fresh of course and not the left overs from the car). I've found that depending on the time of the year and the poor weather, doing this will remove the dirt from the mit a lot better than it does from using water alone.

Great video Larry! I always enjoy learning from you! I have a suggestion for those that don't have compressed air. Turn on the polisher inside an empty wash bucket and I imagine it's not gonna make a mess since it's spraying into the bucket? I'd keep the polisher parallel to the bucket. :)

You're right that most DIYers don't have compressors. I know I don't. But, what I do have is a PowerWasher!! So I would presume that a PowerWasher Spray would probably work best as you're getting the best of both worlds: Air and Water in the form of High Pressured Sprayed Water! Ureka! lol

Hey Larry. Love the content that you produce. I wanted to ask whether instead of using compressed air, could one use a Metro Vac Air Force blaster to remove residue and dry the pad simultaneously?

Lovely car. I always use my steamer for the pad (meg. whool pad), to dry it off i turn on my machine spin it up to 2000+ rpm, and allow it to throw off, most of the water. Then i simply take a small area with the moist pad, a bit annoying for the first round and a slight cut, but does the job just fine.

I agree, this video is needed. But What I know is you should throw in a cup of distilled white vinegar along with liquid detergent with the towels in the wash. And of course wash them separately from your clothes the vinegar makes them soft and take off all the wax residue and products and dirt and grim

How do you polish those really hard to reach places? Like on the car in the video, the grooves that goes in front of the headlights, or more relevant, under the mirrors. Do you have a machine with a backplate small enough to really get in there? Or do you do it by hand? Always wondered how people tackle that. I usually try to do my best by hand, but that doesn't always work so well if it's something very visible. Like the groves in front of the headlights on this car

I've seen some detailers use a small tool that spins and has sort of "teeth" on it, and they run it across the pads with the machine on a low speed, moving the tool in and out from center to edge. Any thoughts on those? I'm not sure if those are more for foam pads or what.

You can either use a product specifically made for washing MF (CG, AG, and DD all carry these products) OR if you wash them with regular detergent make sure it is colorless, odorless and free of any fabric softeners and free of bleach. When I wash mine I use ALL and half a cup of vinegar as a natural softener. Make sure you do a load of just MF with no other articles of clothing, towels etc. And when you dry, again no fabric softeners and use low heat.

I would say that shouldn't be a problem. I've made the switch to strictly washing and drying with MF and the single bucket multiple towel method so I don't have to worry about washing a mitt. IMHO it's the best way to ensure you don't introduce dirty media to your paint. The 2 bucket wash method doesn't guarantee it- IMHO.

Scott Ferrell you have probably already gotten the answers you were looking for, but in Larry's other videos he recommends the garoit's garage DA for the weekend warriors (like me) he says it's the best bang for your buck. I just found the AMMO NYC youtube channel a week or two ago and have been watching non-stop. SO MUCH valuable info! I'm making my list of questions, and then checking them off as I watch more videos - once I've seen them all, i'll send the rest of my list to larry@ammonyc.com where he says we can send questions. I don't want to bother him until i've watched everything though! I would rather he spend his time making more videos than answering redundant emails! Sorry for rambling... i'm going to bed now :)

I’ve heard mixed views about Pad Washer Machines, I’ve seen them on eBay from £50 to over £100: seems to me providing the grit guard is inspected regularly it’s a good way to wash pads saving a lot of time, is it worth investing in a pad washer ? Note I am not a professional, just someone who is enthusiastic about cars.
