Good process as always. If you live somewhere your car might get quite dirty (I live in Norway) I'd recommend these steps: 1. Koch Chemie Teerwasche (let it sit for a few minutes). Only use below windows, and all the way up on the back. 2. Koch Chemie Green Star 1:10 or Bilt-Hamber Surfex HD 1:10 dilution. (Let it sit for a few minutes. This is on top of the Teerwasche). 3. Foam it down with Koch Chemie Vorreiniger B (Stronger than your normal foam.) Again, let this sit for a few minutes. And do not use any of these products in the sun. (Why are we putting layer on layer of product? To let them have a good and long hang time, so they can do their magic.) 4. Rinse. 5. Iron Remover - Let it sit for a few minutes then rinse. 6. Wash the car 7. Clay 8. Dry

Very interesting to see how different detailers work and see what they believe works, or doesn't, is worth the effort, or not... You give me the impression that much of this wash stage is almost for show - yet others think it's super important. I enjoy watching the variety. It's is also overwhelming! This will be a fun series.

Matt, I'm Surprised you haven't moved to Koch Motorplast yet. I was a diehard diluted Hyper Dressing guy but Motorplast is by far the best engine dressing I've ever used.

Totally get why your snowfoam in the US is all about slickness now. Here in the uk its for sure used to remove dirt prior to contact wash. Reason being our cars are much dirtier after a week in the road.

For anyone who has turned on hose pressure before removing the peepee dribble plug, just stick a large enough socket over the end of the plug (on the floor), and smack it with a mallet. Should pop right off. Not sure about full pressure washer pressure, but it did work with just the garden hose pressure, which I still couldn’t get it off by hand.

I would love to see Matt clean and detail a real world Offroad truck that has many trail miles, scratches and trail rash. Not junk beater rigs but real world trail machines like my 2018 Lexus GX 460.

as a detailer up always inspect wheel wells first to determine if I'm going to do them. usually do it every 4 maintenance washes or the client asks. because yes. it gets dirty as you drive your truck away. save with engine bay dirt flies through the grill and under the hood while you drive its getting dirty.. in sick of detailers who say. oh you gotta clay it every time. I like the decon wash. It is definitely super slick. Let's be honest though it didn't really do much in terms of stripping the bead maker I had on my car. I was using solely bead maker before I had the time to Polish and coat. when we are using the decon soap isnt that what we want? To strip everything. Makes me think that maybe a Bill Hamber strip wash could one day replace the decon soap we are using now

What’s up guys over at Obsessed Garage! I have a question, I was wondering if it’s okay to apply a spray protectant/sealant, (wait a bit) then apply a wax, and lastly use something just to enhance the gloss such as “Topper” itself or something like Dream Maker from p&s?

Will you be doing a vid on how to fill the air pressure in your tires. Which tire to do first eg: driver side or passenger side, front or rear first. Should you completely empty the tire with air first then add air incrementally in each one, then moving on to the drivers side or passenger side. Will you show if it is necessary to fill the tire with air from a certain type of machine, or can you use a pump station at a self serve gas station, or would that be beneath you? What about the Milwaukee tire pump; should you use that with your left hand or right hand, what would be the proper technique? It’s a bit of a rabbi hole but so similar to trying to comprehend on how on earth can I wash my car, it just seams impossible at the stage.

This is going to be long-winded … First, there are too many “if’s” in any detailing process to have one method that fits all. It seems simple, but it’s very important to recognize. Not everyone (regardless of success or stature) coat their vehicles. Not everyone waxes or seals their paint. Not everyone maintains their vehicles. Not everyone lives in Florida where vehicles don’t get that filthy on a daily basis. The point being, one method does not apply to all. It never has. It never will. One bucket, two bucket, three? lol … in the end, regardless of what anyone says, it doesn’t matter. If you still think grit guards do anything, hey more power to you. Who am I to try to talk anyone out of anything. For me, grit guards and anything more than one bucket is just pure nonsense. Nobody uses 20 towels or mitts to wash a vehicle with one bucket because it’s not needed. Haven’t you seen Matt rinse his wheel mitt before? It’s no different than wash mitts. You blow them out and use it again. “It’s not rocket science” lol. The decontamination process is not always needed, either. As well, not every step of the decon is needed every time. You may not need to clay or polish or use harsh chemicals to dissolve metals and make a huge mess everywhere. It’s really more of a case by case type deal here. Nothing wrong with Matt’s methods, just pointing out the obvious. It’s why detailers perform inspections before they begin. Here are the cold hard facts of detailing: Things you NEED - soap - cleaner - sealant - dressing - vacuum - bucket - hose - water - drying towel Things you DON’T need - everything else The “everything else” are just things that are nice to have, but really don’t serve the basics of detailing in any real capacity. I mean, sure, you do need a polisher and related products to enhance or correct paint if that’s part of your services. Steamers, extractors, pressure washers, blah, blah, blah are largely not needed. Remember guys, this isn’t called vehicle restoration, it’s called detailing. If your client doesn’t give a damn about their vehicles, there’s no reason you should … I would avoid improperly maintained vehicles. However, this is not saying that those items are bunk and not useful. They are useful. Just not needed. Now for those that prefer to do detailing to a very high degree, sure … some of these things are almost required. Like if you want to be able to get passed a judge on show day, you’re going to need some extra stuff and do some extra work. If you want to protect your vehicle then you gotta do some extra stuffs and the “basics” just ain’t going to cut mustard. Like Matt has said, “do average elsewhere”. That’s a real thing. Ignore the bucket and graphene debates, it’s all just white noise. You know what you need to do a good job. Matt can get you most of the way there, but YOU gotta do the rest. That’s just how it is. In the end, we all do our own thing because that’s what works best for us. 😬😬😬

Love Matt but I hate how every single video he makes on this topic he focuses on cars that are coated. Not all of us are lucky enough to have a garage to have a car that is "treated and coated."

Just because you use multiple mitts doesn’t mean one cant go back to the bucket a few times. I will take a MF towel and hit below the doors, rear of car and then toss aside. The rest of the car is never that dirty and a few mitts works fine. Now if your car is hammered, then i could see the need for 500 mitts.
