How to whitewash wood in any color

Hi. I know this video isn't new but hoping you read this. I have little experience with refinishing furniture but my last project I discovered after two coats of paint that the tannins were leaking through and looking terrible. I had to repaint with with an oil based primer and then repaint to stop the leak. Just because I don't ever what to go through that again, would this work on a natural piece of wood that has been clear coated with an oil based primer?

Hi yes in order to trap these tannins you can seal the wood with an oil or alkyd primer. What I also usually do is to ask the paintshop to tint my primer 1 shade lighter than my paint color. So when I paint over the primer its easier to get the desired color on the final product.

Will that work on fake wood paneling?

Hey i havent tried doing it on fake wood but have found some guys that have done it before and it seems to work more or less the same. Ive done it on normal pine wood. Maybe get some off cuts and first try it on that before doing a whole wall.

@@richardsbaywoodcreations on my paneling it's dark but I want the grain to come through just liten it up. Will I have to use a base coat?
