Greetings Coach, think you will get a lot of views and likes with 3.5 and 4.0 Doubles talk, that's where a lot of club players North of 35 years of age up thru 75+ tend to reside or refer to themselves as whether true or not. I would encourage you to make a group of these types of videos for all aspects of Doubles. Every club tends to have a weekly doubles league, great stuff!

Pete. Solid as always. And B2- like a good partner, is a good listener. 3.5 is about precision more than power. Your lesson is all about making your opponents uncomfortable. Be well.

Precision and penetrating slices off both wings will definitely work at 3.5 and keep you competitive at 4.0.

Great compilation Pete! Can't agree more. The points you mentioned are those that I routinely see with some seniors (60+) who feast on younger players without the awareness of what you refer. I will be sharing with everyone in my teams.

Thanks for giving props to the most versatile grip in the game. I’ve actually had people turn their noses up while saying they don’t use the Continental grip, and in my mind, I’m screaming “I’ll bet you lose a lot!”

I play in a 4.0 doubles Tuesday and Thursday, and one of partners refuses to play to play the net, and literally stands on the baseline and distracts me when I am serving and my serve is good! It’s tough playing against 3 players! So I started to serve and volley and he has the nerve to complain if I get passed. I told him if he played the net I wouldn’t be in that situation to begin with! So if players are playing from the baseline in doubles they need to stop playing doubles and play singles! Great job on the video Coach!

Reading the comments is interesting. People getting offended because you are describing solid fundamentals for the 3.5 level. A lot of this applies a at all levels!

Personally I would prefer not to use ‘conclusive’ words like ‘all’ winning all matches. USTA 3.5 is a competitive level.
@thedom340313 күн бұрын
I would call this how to win all your beginner doubles matches, not 3.5. To those who are unaware, 3.5 usta is played almost exclusively by strong 4.0 players who manage ratings to try and advance to national championships.

Sorry I have 3.5 players visit me all the time...this works like a charm

There is a big gap between people who claim to be 3.5 and people who play on a winning official 3.5 team. This means that teaching pros always overrate their students compared to their actual USTA level. It's bad enough that we should just throw out the USTA rating system and move to UTR. UTR is so much better.

I agree .. so much sandbagging in Usta
@zuluman013 күн бұрын
USTA lets guys stay 3.5 with UTR ratings greater than 5.0. At Nationals I played a 3.0 doubles team with one guy that had a UTR over 6.0. Those 5-6 UTR guys can be 3.5 with kick serves, drop volleys, 90+ mph flat serves, and consistent topspin forehands. They're not wondering what continental grip is. I'll wait for the 4.0 video to learn how to beat these "3.5s".

Great video - but its more for 3.0 doubles players. 3.5 USTA is surprisingly strong..
@PeterFreemantennis13 күн бұрын
agree to disagree ...i have coached and played with many 3.5 players who win their fair share of matches...why don't you try and get good at running these 3 plays off second serves and if they don't work write me back
@yangao259813 күн бұрын
Difficult to follow just listening without any demo either real players play or some visuals

Hey Pete I don’t think this is for 3.5 , if you watch 3.5 state, you will agree
@PeterFreemantennis13 күн бұрын
Trust me most people playing 3.5 Doubles would have a much better record if they followed all the steps in this video...let's review...#1 get great at the continental grip...most 3.5 players are not great at that..sorry...run chip and charge plays off second serves...most 3 5 do not...tip 3 make 3 balls that tip came from someone with 21 gold balls...tip 4 lead by following I learned that from Mark Woodford tip 5 develop good footwork...if you think these tips won't work at 3.5 your way off...these same plays would work at 4.5 especially if we are talking about players over 40
@josephjph113 күн бұрын
@PeterFreemantennis I agree with continental grip and chip charge, but 3.5 level these days have good kick serve as second serve, not easy on it

@@josephjph1No one has a kick serve at 3.5. most dont at 4.0 either
