Hello, I live in Sri Lanka and purchased one of the units from USA and the explanation given on the Video was so helpful for the electrician to install it without any difficulty. Your method of wiring so nicely explained even a normal person without any knowledge in electrical wiring could install it .Many thanks for the nice video.

This is fine if it’s a on off switch. But if your wiring a dimmer switch it has to be after the photo cell… So it’s power to the photo cell and then photo cell led to dimmer to light fixture

I cannot coach you via such principle, Since it seem as if this circuit is gathering some sort of permanence, the proper thing to do is create a circuit from your point of distribution with same loads or branch from an existing light circuit that will not be deemed as overloaded based on the total (WATTAGE) that should be assigned to a circuit thereby which a fuse /circuit breaker would be already installed to protect that circuit

What if I'm using a 9volt source from a solar power cell , same diagram ? Can I add fuse or circuit breaker ? Thank you for sharing

The same principle is desired with an alternate photo electric cell since the supply voltage is 9V DC. Be sure to add fuse or circuit breaker as you'd like as long as they're reconcilable.

Im not quite understanding the clarity by which you're inquiring, nevertheless i will assume that "cans" mean incandescent lamps. In regards to your location and standards governing lighting infrastructure and installation I'd implore you to verify with local code of ethics/regulations prior to your endeavor. NB: our regulation permits a maximum of 1200W to a circuit with minimal switch gear(circuit breaker) rating of 15A which can be itemized by 12 * 100W incandescent lamps. On another note a maximum of 1000W to a circuit with minimal fuse rating of 15A which can also be itemized by 10* 100W incandescent lamps.

Can a photocell base go bad and short out the photocell? I recently bought a new photocell to replace a 10 year-old one on the side of my house that had stopped working. As soon as I twisted it into the base there was a short "POW!" sound and I was back at square one. The original base is at least 15 years old

No switch or photo cell = white wire to side terminal of lamp black wire to bottom terminal of lamp honestly though it shouldn't matter if you want a switch just phase the white wire through it

The power should go to the Photocell first, not the switch. The way you have it wired, you are switching the photocell on and off repeatedly, which will cause wear on the photocell and diminish its useful life. Take power to the photocell, then to the switch, then to the load.
