At 100 rms, any 12awg or thicker should be fine. Most "standard", diy installs are using a common 14,16, awg. So if you go 12 or higher, you really should be good. Just my opinion. There are many calculators out there, if you need a more solid siggestion though.

MyOnlineCarGuy1 I started with 4 gauge wire and I haven’t had any issues with voltage drop and the max amp I’ve tried running was 1500 watts and I’d say anyone should either go with 4 gauge (in my opinion) unless they’re going for a big build then obviously 0/1 gauge

I understood what you meant. And completely agree. If he had asked about the power wite for an amp of 1000 watts, 4awg is the good recommendation. So it was a good call there my dude. His question reads fast and so the fact hes was asking about the actual speaker wire is super easy to miss.

MyOnlineCarGuy1 that was a fast response it’s late at night man 😧 btw I ordered a skar 12in VXF it arrives Wednesday but I won’t have the money for the amp for another day or two I will come back to this video and let you know when I have it all hooked up :) ima post a demo video on it and I wanna see your opinion on it ( I’m 18 and wanting to learn more and open a car audio shop since there’s not one in my town ) the nearest person who does car audio on does big builds and the legends name is Daniel Powell you’ve probably heard his name before lol much respect for him went to highschool with his kids off topic sorry 😂 but uh yeah I wanna compete with prices Bc there is a actual audio shop in the town over passed Daniels town but they charge $400 for a subwoofer install (just running wires and hooking up the amp) so I’m only going to charge $250 and then you get $50 off if you bring in another vehicle if you have any advice I’d appreciate it and if you made it to the end of this thanks for reading it all I know it’s a lot sorry

You can wire them to 1 ohm, so if your amp is 1 ohm stable and has the output rms to support all 8. I suppose 1 amp is very doable.

If you are still actively commenting would I be able to take my factory 10" pioneer DVC 2ohm sub from a 2009 pontiac g5 and wire it as 4 ohm and get good quality attaching it to the factory 3.7 ohm jbl amp in my 2001 toyota avalon xls in place of the normal factory subwoofer in the rear deck wiring wise? It wouldn't be a placement question but a function and quality question btw factory components only

It's a great question. And quite difficult to fully explain in a messenger. But in it simplest explanation, Yes it would "work"....but.... @4ohm the pwr output would be the same. Thus, audio volume would be the same, possibly even less, if the sub can handle more power. But not given more power, it will then- by design, not swing as much. That perceived volume would either be exactly as before or less.

If each sub is a dual 1. Each sub can only be wired to 2ohm or .5.......BUT....if your buying 2 subs at dual1 each, then you'll wire each to 2ohm, then wire them together bringing it back to 1ohm.

Kicker zx150.2 amp. Kicker svc 2ohm 10". If I bridge the Amp the impedance is 4ohm, too high for my sub, stereo is 2ohm per channel at 75x2. Would I hook the sub up to one channel instead then and is this efficient or should I get a mono amp for this sub? Thanks!

500 rms x1 @2 ohm. You'll wire each sub down (in parallel) to 1 ohm each, and then wire them together (in series) creating a single 2ohm load. (Screen shot this message somehow and save it.) This is what you need since you have the subs already.

That’s because you have absolutely no clue what you are doing. If you want a quick answer your going to be disappointed because there is not just one quick answer. It all comes down to the equipment you have, and what that equipment was designed to do. The answer you are looking for will be completely different than the answer for the next guy. The amp is 1 ch. 2500 watt can run 1-2 or 4 ohm. The sub is 1800 watt max 900rms. I just don't want to hurt anything. I've been told 3 different ways but you know better.

Unfortunately, 2 dvc 2 ohm subs can only be wired to ; .5ohm, 2ohm or 8ohm for a Mono (single channel) amp. The second option would be to wire each sub to 2 ohm and NOT bridge it. (Assuming you have an actual 2 ch amp).

Yes, thats an option too. You'll either want to make sure the amps are "strappable".....or......make sure the box is divided in the middle. That the subs dont share the same air space. Not many have access to an OSCOPE to dial the amps into perfection, so a chambered box/center divider , will make it that you can get them close, and things would be fine.

If I wire the pair of subs to one amp thats stable at 2ohm that will get me the power that I want will it make a difference being 2ohm versus 1ohm I've only ever ran 1ohm so I have no clue what the sound difference would be if any sorry for all the questions

The power output of the amp is determined by the ohm load shown. So, you'll need to read the amps output at 2ohm . As that is your ONLY real option with the parts you have. If it has enough output at 2ohm, great. If not, you know something must be added/changed/swapped for diff parts. Also, if the amp.is 800rms at 2ohm ...thats means 400/sub, just incase you were unsure. Its not 800 each. The amp only sees ohms, not sub count.

I’m curious. I have 2 1000rms dvc 2ohm subs. I want to run them both at 1ohm per sub. Can I use a 2000rms 1ohm monoblock with 2 terminals or do I run 2 separate amps?

You could do either. But...... if you do 1 amp, your power output n wiring would have to be based on 2 ohm. Bedside l because .5 ohm will likely not be an option. Or you can do 2 amps. Wire to 1 ohm each and your box should be chambered so each sib has its pwn airspace (just incase the amp settings arent perfect. So nothing blows.

Hi maybe you can help I have 2 12" subs 4 ohms each that have 500w each and have 300w rms each so combined they have 600w rms I'm getting an amplifier later today that is Total Watts (Peak) 3000W - RMS Power @ 4 ohms 4 x 200W - RMS Power @ 2 ohms 4 x 320W - RMS Power @ 4 ohms Bridge 2 x 500W is this the correct amplifier for my 2 subs I don't want to have any damage to my subs nor overpower them or damage my new amplifier

i have an amp that "says" is 2000w -4000w max at 1 ohm stable (american bass ph 4000 md) however im trying to connect two 1 ohm subs but my amp keeps cutting off when i turn up my volume re-ran all my connections starting from the yellow top optima battery with a 0 gauge with an 150 amp fuse right after the battery ran my 0 gauge wire to another battery in the trunk with another 150 amp fuse after that battery then of course ran that wire to the amp new ground connects to the body (sanded all the paint off the body before connections with bolt screws) i need help please broh

2 -1ohm subs connected together = .5 ohm thats the issue. Your wiring below the amps stable abilities. You have to connect the subs together in "series", this will create a a single 2ohm load. That will be plenty stable for the amp.

The amps would get very hot..and what happens after that would be manufacturer specific. But generally bad things for the amps.

If it says 2ohm and not 1ohm when strapped, then the designed limits are at 2ohm. And 1ohm is going to be beyond manufacturer spec.

If I've got 2 4 ohm subs wired down to 1 ohm, can I connect them to a 4 channel class D amp? And if so, how? Do I bridge them into channel 1 & 2 or do I connect them to channel 1?

This is an amp specific question. Each of the amps have their own threshhold.. most like you cannot wire at 1 ohm on a 4 ch. So that will prob need to be changed.

You might be able to take sub 1 and wore it to 2 ohm and bridge it across ch 1 and 2. Then sub 2 wored to 2 ohm and bridges across ch 3 and 4. But this is dependent on if ur amp can support that. You gotta read your amps paperwork for this one my.dude.

I just got an amp installed. No sub until later in the day everything is wired up except the sub. They told me I can just plug and play but should I disconnect the battery before connecting the sub to the amp?

Nah just turn the car/truck off. And the amp will be off. With the amp off there ZERO power coming out of those speakers terminals. You'll be good to go.

Oh.....they connected it to the amp already......so you just need to strip it to connect to ur box. Yeah. Still no power just make sure the key is off.

I have a old tarantula 2600 watts 2 channel at 1 ohm stable and a soundown x15 v2 dual 4 ohm ways to hook up together i feel like am not getting good kick on the sub and the sub is all around help

Check the box tuning. The power match up there looks pretty good. Youd be at 2 ohm (since its a dual4.) So the amp isnt over working or anything.. but the box tuning being out of place would cause the bass sound to fall off.

At 2ohm. You would be getting much less power then at .5 ohm. The higher the ohm load, the less power is allowed to pass through. So if the amp is 2500 at .5 ohm. Then its probably closer to 1000watts at 2ohm.

@@myonlinecarguy1 so you recommend a new amp for the speaker or a new speaker for the amp? I love the speaker i seen it work in other cars and is crazy loud but am not getting not even a hint of pawer compared to how i seen it work and what amp you recommend for that speaker

I woukd look for an amp that has an RMS power rated to match tue sub. When the amp is wired at 2 ohm mono. So if the sub is 2krms...then the amp should read. ( 2000watts rms ×1@2ohm ) this wouod be the perfect match. From there the box itself is responsible for the acoustical tuning. (The pitch of the bass) that would be tue next area to address.

Hey I have 2 Memphis dual voice coil subs that have these selections on them for 4 ohm and 2 ohm I am wondering how do I set them up to get them down to 1 ohm and how to hook them up to my 1ohm Memphis 2000.1 amp

If you switch them each to say 2ohm. Then wore them together, (+) of 1 sub to (+) of sub 2. Then to amp....and then (-) of sub 1 to (-) of sub 2 to amp. This will be 1 ohm on the amp.

The amp has power output ratings at 1 ohm. So if wired to 1 ohm, rhe amp.will output "that"....., then that output will be shared across both subs. Ex: 1000rms x1 @1 ohm = 500 to each sub.

You really should get matching ohm loads. Its possible to get them working. However, i would NOT be able to say for how long. I wouldn't bother trying. Im sure that is not what you wanted to hear. But even with Rims, sometimes jist cause the bolt pattern works, doesnt mean the offset will fit, or the size is going to work. Sometimes getting the right parts from the start, is the best route to go.

Thanks just ordered a new amp I love this kx1600.1 but neede 1 ohm thanks just replaced 4 15s so can’t do anything. Is this why my bass hits ridiculously for 30 minutes or so and sounds like the battery is dying after I slam them for a few minutes straight. Thanks

Everything is upgraded but yesterday I was tuning and big bass drops had protection light slightly blinking and then it cuts off my highs after to long for a second or 2. I have 2 kinetic rev2400s and a 10 farad hybrid stinger cap. I’m thinking my 2 ohm stable amp is getting pissed I’m on 1 ohm. Sound correct. U replied so fast thanks u really do care huh

Yeah, def still sounds like electrical strain. Id say, dona big 3, maybe find more solid/closer to frame grounds. Rather then sheet metal. And see if things stabilize.
