Well, 1 ohm is cheaper power because amps that can send your wattage rated by your sub at 2 ohms is more expensive. Also I would say that higher resistance makes more heat because it's harder for electricity to pass throu the wire.@DharshanBusKingdomOfficial

I run a single dual 4-ohm 12 wired at 8 ohms in a sealed box and it sounds amazing. I don't want my Subs to be so loud and Punchy that all it does is rattled the s*** out of my car and sound like crap. Personally I prefer a deep rich accurate sound over a subwoofer that is trying to Rattle my teeth out of my head.

i’m running 2 6.5” DVC 4ohm wired for 4ohm. 300rms 600max, in a dual ported enclosure. Part of me wants that big boom that everyone can feel, but I also enjoy the clean sound they produce in the cab. Some higher notes don’t sound so good, a bit shallow, but it’s more like the sound of the box rattling. will adding in that type of cushion into box make a better sound?

Exactly. The only way a sub will hit harder than another is dependant on the ohm load you wire your sub by on the amplifier. With monoblock amplifiers you get more benefits of power according to less resistance. With A/B amplifiers you typically get the most out of it running 4ohms bridged. By having a choice of the ohm loads on a subwoofer you get the opportunity to determine the amount of subs you wish to run and what ohm load wiring them up as which suit the recommended tolerance (RMS) your speaker can tolerate at a consistent amount of power. Great vid. Knowledge in this case is power! That's a fact!

He doesn't answer the question he proposed. Does a lower ohm load hit harder? Maybe some wanted the answer beyond if a lower ohm load will deliver more power from a given amp. What if you can deliver all the power you need at 4 ohms? How does that compare to the same sub wired at 1 ohm? He could talk about how dampening factor and BL affect subwoofer control and contrast that against impedance rise as a reason to lean 1 ohm. For the record, I did not downvote him.

I did a test using my earthquake home subwoofers. These are the home models that they make. Keep in mind, they come wired in a 2ohm configuration from the factory. Kept all settings the same on everything for each test. Rewired the DVC sub for each test. When I went up to 4ohm, It was much quieter in volume plus the sound quality diminished a bit. It didn't have that robust/phat quality that 2ohm had. In conclusion , if you're listening to a set up with 4ohm then listen to a different set up with 2ohm, you're not necessarily gonna hear the difference. But when you take the same set up and go back and forth from 2ohm to 4ohm, the difference is big!! My test was done on an earthquake home subwoofer. Yes, earthquake sets their stuff up to 2ohm from the factory as I said earlier. But I wanted to do a test to see for my self. On a side note it's amazing that they can put a 2ohm amplifier in a small box and not have it ever get hot like ever. My buddy Has the big SVS ultra 16 and he admits that my earthquake Supernova 15 Sounds better. He doesn't like saying that either. 😅😅😅

I see a video all things equal it was said if I remember correctly that wiring a sub in series promotes better SQ than parallel because you basically have one long coil vs 2 separate coils...makes sense I suppose but I don't know personally but I trust there opinion the person is quite educated in sub woofery...
@marcuslinton3102 жыл бұрын
Bunch of nonsense. The number of coils or the way it's wired has nothing to do with SQ. It only seems related because as you lower the impedance, the power increases and your amp needs to keep up. If the amp can't provide clean power at the levels it's being pushed, you'll get distortion. If the amp is run within it's designed abilities, any SQ difference due to impedance load is so minimal it will never be heard by the human ear.
@95Sn952 жыл бұрын
@@marcuslinton310 there's waaay more to it other than impedance.. the parameters Change going from parallel to series or vice versa, the RE obviously your impedance changes but also LE and BL change... so your saying inductance and motor force, efficiency doesn't affect SQ? It isn't nonsense. If you think I'm talking nonsense do a little research or not whatever I don't care. May help to not make incorrect statements from lack of knowledge with agressive conviction no less. ✌️

@@95Sn95 It is nonsense, because the human ear can't tell the difference between single or dual voice coils or how they are wired. You need sound meters to see such a minimal difference. Let me guess, you're another "I can hear a difference" proclaimer? Spare me more nonsense. Sound level for sound level, all things being equal other than dual voice coil or single voice coil, you will never hear the difference. Sound level for sound level, all things being equal other than wired in series or parallel, you will never hear the difference. You should buddy up with Jason in the other thread below, he also thinks he can hear differences that simply can't be heard.

Use poly fill inside the enclosure, like the stuff inside of pillows. In my opinion running anything to an amplifier at a higher ohm final impedence sounds way better..... ya its alot easier and CHEAPER to run at a lower impedence. BUT as long as the amplifier can produce ENOUGH power to whatever your running the sound quality is better and alot more powerful because your amplifier is not having to work as hard constantly at a lower impedence.......
@marcuslinton3102 жыл бұрын
All amps are working hard if you are pushing them to their extreme no matter what ohm you're wired at 1, 2, 4, 8 or otherwise. As long as the amplifier is designed to support the ohm load being wired, it will do so at it's RMS power without much issue or loss in quality. In a normal use situation, day to day normal listening, the ohm wiring isn't going to matter and nobody will ever tell the difference no matter how much they want to claim otherwise. Anyone making that claim, put them to the test for $1,000, they won't take the bet. Bottom line, ohm load only comes in to play when constantly pushing them to their max extreme levels.

@@marcuslinton310 maybe it's me, but I can hear the difference. Not talking no Taramps. All things equal same RMS. A 4ohm load puts less strain on your electrical vs a 1ohm load. Less strain and keeping your volts at peak levels = BOOM!!!! Regardless you can put 500rms on some 4cyl cars and get lights dimming and such. That's the point I was trying to make . MORE CONTROL, LESS HEAT,= BETTER SQ WHEATHER YOU CAN HEAR IT OR NOT.....
@jaysonoliveira47522 жыл бұрын
There's a much higher dampening factor running at 4ohms as well, also less distortion, and less headroom a 1ohm. You put a Rf t2500 at 4ohm to any subs, and then you run those same subs to any 1ohm amplifier at whatever power you want. I guarantee you will notice a difference and not just in SQ.
@RobHTech7 ай бұрын
Ya but, we also have to consider sub impedance rise. Running at 1 Ohm allows the amp to put out more power as the impedance rise. If at 2 Ohm, then impedance rise will be higher, thus lower output. So, ya if running at 1 Ohm gives you the power you need to push the sub to its capabilities, then run it at 1 Ohm, so long as the amp is capable of running 1 Ohm and designed to run at 1 Ohm.

the question i had was if u have a 1000w rms amp (on 1 ohm) and a 500w rms sub (on 1 ohm) is it worth to wire the sub down to 4 ohm.. to give it a better chance of surviving the amp.. or just keep the amp on 50-60% max... (im betting on the second option).

your subs will be safe as long as you don’t overtune your gain. Tune the gain with your bass knob maxed out, that way it’ll prevent you from accidentally raising the gain anymore. you can only tune down from there.

@@_N4VE_ Ive found that out meanwhile.. im happy with the system though.. better go to heavy on the amp and turn down the gain.. less distortion..

@@larsvegas1505 nice, i just finished my set up and tuned up the gain a good bit. Two 6.5 DS18 subs in a Ported Dual enclosure. 300rms/600max per sub. Wired both to make 4ohm to my amp 800rms @4ohm. They hit surprisingly hard and low for some 6.5s. Kinda wish I had just gotten a single 12” tho, but I was curious how two 6.5s would sound.

@@_N4VE_ I love my 12'' can go way to loud.. ive got the amp on like 40% gain max. A 10 wouldve also been good enough and a bit smaller/cheaper.. but then i have got a small car also.. 6.5'' can give some decent base (esp midbase) but never the sheer deep rumble a single 12 would make.. its just so much bigger..

@@larsvegas1505 yah exactly, Can’t beat the lows of a 12”. So rn, i’m looking around for either a 12”, or I can find a 10” that matches my box specs and bore out the holes to fit a pair of 10s. But then again, having one 12 could probably save me some room and still have big deep boom lol

Does a 2 ohms voice coil have a high resistance then a 4 ohms

YO MBE. Can you explain how some amps can put out the same power at 1 ohm and 2 ohms? Seems like black magic. Thanks

A 4 ohm 1,000 watt sub hits harder than a 1,000 watt 2 ohm sub due to twice the BL and better damping factor. Simple fact.

The video started about comparing Ohms but quickly changed to which sub hits harder with more watts... compare the SAME watts to the two different ohm loads. The graphs change. The title should he changed as well!

The sound difference between a 2ohm and 4ohm at the same exact wattage is so minimal the human ear will never hear the difference. Anyone who claims they can hear the difference is full of it.

What about sharing wattage meaning one sub on 1000 watts vs two subs on 1000 watts. In car audio if you pretend to know something there always someone who actually KNOWS

Bridge doesn’t apply to subwoofers sir…but you can bridge 2 channels of a amp to get a mono output.

Man when I was 19 I had 3 Sony explodes 12s a single voice coil to a boss 3000 W amp 2 in a ported and one in a sealed Walmart enclosure in the 93 Buick I swear that was the loudest system I ever had It broke my trunk latch and cracked my front window I never blew the amp or the subs. Since I always had duals kickers audio pipes and now db drive wdx g3s and I still feel like my first system was the best with $50 subs
