💡*SOME TIPS* so you don't break your briolettes: If you wrap the wire too tight the top of the bead can pop off 😫 so here are some things to keep in mind 👇 If your wire doesn't insert easily through the hole then proceed with caution...or use a finer wire. The wire shouldn't be a tight fit or it's more likely you'll break the bead. Also, when you bend the wire up to follow the contour of the bead, you don't want to make those bends super tight. The bead should be able to move freely (but without TOO much room). If it's too tight on that first step then the next step is likely to break the bead because it will cinch it up a little bit. It might take a little practice but if you can get the technique down on cheap glass or crystal beads and experiment with different sizes / hardnesses of wire I think you'll be happy with the results. Thanks for watching! Let me know if there's anything I can help with!

I gasped when I saw you turn the briolette to make the first wraps. The tops can be so fragile - have you ever had the briolette tip break when doing this maneuver? Especially with half hard wire? t certainly does make a great wrap and is much easier and neater than how I usually do it. Gotta admit, I'm a bit scared to try it!

That is a really great point - thanks for your question! I am planning to address this in the blog post. I usually write one for each video so I can get more specific and address FAQ's as they come up! This can definitely be an issue if the size of the wire is too close to the hole size of the bead. For most glass beads 24g is a good fit with plenty of wiggle room. 26g is fine too as long as the beads aren't super heavy, and if you want to use soft wire, then for sure - go for it! I do personally always use half hard wire even on tiny gemstone beads, but for those I work with 26g wire (since the holes are generally much smaller). I like the look of the finer wire and the 'crispness' of the half hard wire keeps it looking neat. Some tips: If your wire doesn't insert easily through the hole then proceed with caution...or use a finer wire. Also, when you bend the wire up to follow the contour of the bead, you don't want to make those bends super tight. The bead should be able to move freely (but without TOO much room). If it's too tight on that first step then the next step is likely to break the bead. Aside from these two things, it is more likely to happen when the hole is drilled too close to the top, or if there is a fault in the stone, both of which I am definitely looking to avoid while choosing my stones! I use this method daily for small briolettes like amethyst, peridot, citrine, etc and yes, occasionally the tip will pop off but thankfully it's pretty rare. It would probably happen more often with softer stones like opal or apatite, but for glass it seems as long as the hole is not super close to the top it's rarely a problem if the wire fits well and the 'swing' isn't too tight. I hope that helps! Like most things, it might take a little practice but if you can get the technique down on cheap glass or crystal beads and experiment with different sizes / hardnesses of wire I think you'll be happy with the results.

You're welcome 😊 I hope you get good results with this! I'm going to include some tips I just replied to another question. The wire shouldn't be a tight fit or you can break the bead. Also, when you bend the wire up to follow the contour of the bead, you don't want to make those bends super tight.
