Hi, big thanks for this video!! Id like to ask if you could help me with my cooling needs. I would like to hook-up 2 adjustable electronic thermo switches to my stock diagram (twin relay) can I do that by eliminating the stock thermostat from the diagram and just use the adjustable ones in its place? How can I run it without loosing my temperature gauge function?
@AlexFranceschi
@AlexFranceschi 6 жыл бұрын
zaher Unfortunately, I dont think i can provide you with a yes or no answer. I have no idea what OEM wiring diagram you are working with. On my system, i converted from a mechanical fan, so the wiring for the temp gauge is connected to a different sensor. I assume in your car the temp gauge and e-fan use the same sensor? Problem is, your gauge is calibrated to that sensor and its temp range. If you slap on a new sensor will it read the same or different? I cannot say. I would suggest creating a separate harness like i did so you dont loose the functionality of the temp gauge. Make sense?

You can hook up the high speed to the air conditioner if you have one so when you turn on your a/c the fan runs faster during when the a/c compressor comes on and off cycles....

You can locate it anywhere you want. I installed mine into an empty slot in the stock fuse box under the hood, next to the shock tower. I wanted it to look OEM, but you can place it anywhere really.

Great video! Im in the process of doing the e-fan conversion and i'm wondering if this temp switch and adapter would work with a ford taurus fan? Any idea?
@AlexFranceschi
@AlexFranceschi 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'll give you a two part answer, but the taurus fan should be fine instead it more depends on your type of car. 1) The temp switch, from an electrical point of view, any temp switch will work, you just need to wire it into your circuit correctly. However, you want to make sure it is in the correct temperature range for your engine. You don't want the fan to turn on too soon or too late. Typically, you want it to turn on after the thermostat has opened. 2) The adapter, just make sure the radiator hose adapter matches the size of your radiator hose and your temp switch. Hope that helps, good luck!

I have this same fan and it makes a faint clicking noise whenever the fan is spinning. I thought mine was defective because of this, but it works perfectly. I watched this video as well as the one posted by Mohr Garage and it sounds like all of our fans make this clicking noise. Is this something you noticed too? My fan clicks when spinning the proper way, but is silent when spun the opposite direction. Just wanted to make sure this was a normal thing for Nissan Quest fans.

Sorry for the delayed response. I don't recall any clicking noises from my fan off the top of my head. If we get a break in the rain this weekend, I'll start it up and give it a try.

What color wire is the one you tapped into for the 12v ignition ? My ac was removed from previous owner & I'm trying to identify a 12v ign source to tap into
@AlexFranceschi
@AlexFranceschi 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, I must've turned off notifications on accident and didn't realize I had comments! I don't recall the color off the top of my head, but the easiest solution is to grab a multimeter, connect the positive side (red) of the multimeter to the 12V IGN source in question, and your ground (black) to a ground on the chassis. If you turn the ignition to ACC/ON it should read 12V, and then go to 0 when you turn the car off. If it's 12V all the time, that's straight battery voltage, you don't want that.

Should my fan blow back to the motor or in to the radiator mine is blowing at the motor
@AlexFranceschi
@AlexFranceschi 3 жыл бұрын
If your fan is mounted on the side of the motor (like mine), you want it to pull air from the front of the car and blow it towards the motor. This is the conventional setup, to pull cold air from the front of the car. There are fans designed to mount the opposite way (in front of the radiator) that push air through the radiator to the motor.

Hey bro! I’m just passing through.... I do have a question. You have a two speed fan there. You could use three relays and two adjustable thermostat switches and have better control over your needs. Nothing wrong with your set up. Did a great job on the install and explaining it. Just seems you could get more out from it. By the way. Those pwm are not really worth it. I’ve own several (spal) to name one. It failed out in the open desert. 😡 Relays fail, you can get those anywhere. One Thermostat fails. You can still run on one. Sometimes primitive inventions are simply better. You listening nasa!??... lol! Larry

mafosa thanks for the tip! I totally agree with you. However, the car runs so cool with the low speed setting, I don't think it's necessary for me at the moment to utilize the high speed setting. However, if I find the need to do so, maybe I'll make a part 2 video lol. Thanks for stopping by and the great feedback (not only for me, but others watching this video)!
