"the best part is no part" - I love this so much. That's why I've got only guitar, cable and an amplifier in my stack. Less things, less chaos

Sad to hear about a CEO who feels no emotions. How do they build relationships and trust? Thinking about Kim Scott's "humanity is your asset".

That's a great person to have on your team. When you know someone isn't gripped by emotion despite the distress placed on them, you can trust them to decide and execute swiftly and fairly. That trait can build very strong working relationships. Can you trust them to have empathy or to provide therapy? No, that's not their strength. Another team member must provide those things.

@@EffectiveMuscle I would find it hard to communicate with someone who doesn't show any emotions but just executes. What do they like? What do they don't like? Communication is an important part of team work. Being a communication bottleneck really messes up the team execution in my experience.

That innovation works through autonomy if the salary is much above industry average else people think that why not do on my own

This is such a great interview with really helpful information. I was *completely* with this guy until he said "no, I don't think it [having equity] matters at all. It's not what actually motivates," in regard to spinning off c corps to innovate at large companies. I get the sentiment of what he was trying to say, but it just put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth; only people who have are incredibly well off have the privilege of saying things like that.

The part about firing somebody on his team just because he needed the practice of firing someone bothered me. I know that it worked out well for the company but how well did it work out for the person that he let go? What would the impact on the company have been if he let the person stay and worked closely with that person to improve the amount of impact they were having?

Tell people how they have to respond to you?? Like the wife example. I honestly said early on in the pod to myself this guy just read a ton of books and had an aha moment. Then he states later on that most of what he teaches is poached. Hahaha I read that like a book. The on-time thing fill like a controlling narcissist thing much like my first statement. Weird guy! Like the wall flower got invited to a party he was not supposed to be at.
