Thanks for such a helpful video! I've bought your download to help create my own PIF. I use supermarket bought olive oil in my soap for which there is no MSDS/Coa available, do you know if this means I can't use it in soaps that I intend to sell? Many thanks again.

You’d need to ask the assessor of your soap, but personally I’d use one from a cosmetic ingredient supplier as it will be easier to account for and keep track of any changes to it, as it will have all the documentation.

Hi, Thank for the info. What is the difference between product code and product number. Do I self assign both?

Product code is the number/code that you assign to your formula. That only changes if you change your formula. Batch number is a code to identify individual batches of that product you make. Both are created by you.

Hi Claire, The MSDS and other technical data sheets you need should be available to download from the ingredients supplier website. Normally they have them available on the product page.

if i send my product to a lab for stability testing how long can it take? am i allowed to start selling before the stability testing is complete?

You can stability test yourself. If you want to send to a lab you’d need to ask your chosen lab about timescales. I’d never sell anything before doing stability, as you couldn’t give an accurate use by or know of any adverse reactions.

thank you so much, i was also wondering, if im making lipgloss and my formula is the same but some have varying amounts of pigment, do i need to make a different pif for each colour?@@revegacosmetics

@@ella-dd6mjYou can do a family PIF and list variants on each sheet as far as I’m aware. So long as you have the pigment infuriation and stability data separated out.

Do you make a PIF per product or one big one to combine everything?

Per product, but if you have a base formula with variants such as colour and scent, you can create a ‘family’ PIF and just make sure you include all the relevant variant information.

@@1reenaparekh You can if you live in the UK. Basically the RP for the UK has to live in the UK, an RP for the EU has to live in the EU. So yes, if you live here and want to sell here, you can be the RP. Having someone do this for you is quite pricey, but I can recommend the Cosmetic Regulator on Instagram for very reasonable rates.
