This was quite an inspiration. I composed my own waltz last night. Started out simple, but then added to the melody and especially the rhythm. Then I modulated from G major to G minor, but even then the chords weren't all diatonic in G minor (which gave it a spooky feel). Then back to G major for a reprise. It's hardly original, and mostly mediocre, but it's a piece of music, it lasts 48 measures and well over two minutes. Practice with the software (Musescore) meant that writing it out was a snap. Even a year ago I never imagined I would do something like this. I might even orchestrate it! I bought this and the funk groove as sheet music, not that I need them (already have them memorized), but as a way of saying thanks.

A ballad doesn’t have to be 3 beats in a bar, they’re also 4 beats!
