As a soloist for 60 years it is paramount that you work at complimenting the melody and song. In rare circumstances you are tasked with providing a section of guitar virtuosity, but mostly your job is to continue the journey in the song for the audience. I enjoy the craft and the challenges presented when asked to do that.

I agree with Tooker: the solo guitarist's job is to blow the damn melody away
@larrypower8659

Sometimes that is a soloist’s task; most times, not. Depends on what the composer or producer prefers. George Harrison is the best example of complementing the song. There are many others. Wankery can be both a blessing and a curse, and the question is always this: Is it me that’s most important or the music itself?

Dude, years after years of watching your videos I’m starting to feel deep inside me that you’re one (if not THE one) of the most inspiring guitarist I’ve ever listened. You’re so talented and your guitar playing is always serving the music and sound, not just about being technical and impressively fast. Even though I think your style is probably most impressive than a technical beast machine. Thank you for being so inspiring! Greetings from France 🇫🇷🤘🏼

Man, that is a jam. It’s impossible not to Bob my head, tap my foot, and pat my hand on the chair. The solo absolute completes the song. I added it to my Apple library. Give me and old school vibe with a new school twist, great combo. I definitely heard some Satrianiesque tones which I love. Bluesy, yet hopeful. And the lyrics made me feel like I would’ve wrote them. Awesome man.

I feel like that’s an also a main reason as to why there aren’t any solos in mainstream music nowadays. That, and it “isn’t cool” anymore, plus, artist think they have to fit a mold of 3.5 minute songs so that they have radio playability; and I think it’s really sucked the joy out of a lot of music. A side note as well, (and my personal opinion here), everything is starting to be created with a computer, making it hard to get the idea for a solo, because there isn’t someone in the studio who can, then the thought of a solo doesn’t cross the artist’s mind, for the aforementioned reasons.

So crafty! Love it! Making a guitar solo work for a song is so much more difficult than one would think. Not to just throw a bunch of shredding at the song and to actually hear the song. It’s always a challenge! Thanks for sharing. Very inspiring

You never cease to amaze. Such beautiful work. I added it to my Apple Music library, as well as Cumulus and Sugar Coated. The guitar solo work on Sugar is a bit more old-school but truly effective and actually raised the hair on my arms when I first heard it. That’s an A+ for me, LOL. I admire not only your skill, but your true musicianship. Everything else can be learned but THAT, in my humble opinion, is a gift.
