If you ever wanted to learn how to write Korean, then this video will be perfect. Here, I talk about both handwriting and typing because, after all, typing is just digital writing, and I assumed people would be curious about both. This video covers various topics from the writing orders of Korean letters, to the science behind the Korean keyboard, to the weird depths of the Korean iceberg-this is definitely one of the most detailed videos on Korean out there.
This is a sequel to "How to Read Korean"-that's right, it only took me 4 years to make a sequel. You don't need to have watched that video to understand this one (since it's Reading vs. Writing). In any case, they're actually supposed to complement each other.
This was definitely one of the most ambitious projects on my channel ever, not just this year. I've never gone all-out like this in making/editing a video before. For a long time, I've wanted to make this video as a follow-up to "How to Read Korean"; I just didn't know how I would structure the video or what I would say in it. Finally, after a lot of consideration, I decided to move on with it this summer. Researching and brainstorming ideas took quite a bit of time because I wanted to ensure I was covering everything necessary. Furthermore, since this video is for anyone-including foreign learners-I had to think about how to explain things easier (that would normally be straightforward/easy to Koreans). Writing the script (which was contemporaneous with research) also took a couple weeks as well.
When it came to editing, I realized I wanted to make this more visually appealing than other Korean videos I've made, which resembled slideshows. I decided to make this video as cinematic as possible-like a documentary-giving myself no time limit or deadline for this video to unleash as much creativity as possible. And I'm proud to say that it worked. Creating the visual materials and coming up with the transitions in between have never been more fun. I hope this is one of the most well-edited Korean videos out there, combining artistic visualization and my signature tangents-sometimes digressing from the topic, but still informative and interesting enough to point out. (You'll be surprised to hear that I didn't include a tangent about Korean 3-set or 10-key keyboards, which would've led to another huge rabbit hole.)
I think this is one of the best videos I've ever made, if not THE best. This was one of the most time-consuming projects on my channel, spanning slightly over a month from inception to completion. Editing itself took 12 days, which consisted of working on it every day from morning to night (not even joking), and Premiere crashing 11 times throughout didn't help at all. I've never put in this much effort for a video before, and it was only possible because it was summer break. Consequently, it would be difficult to dedicate such an immense amount of time to another project like this in the future. I will still try, though.
I hope you guys found this video helpful! Leave a like if you did and subscribe to the channel! Thanks for watching.

This is a sequel to "How to Read Korean" (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rtKFZpiZx7DakmQ.html), which was released back in 2019. You don't have to watch that video to understand this.

Assuming that everybody knows how to type with ten fingers instead of searching and picking at the keyboard with two is adorable of you. 😅

When you were talking about how many words are actually used in everyday conversation, it reminded me that English speakers learn over 10,000 words in the first 18ish years of life, but only use about 150 to communicate.

Man you should get much more recognition! After watching the vid I was surprised how little comments there were... I'm korean but i tumbled upon with the duolingo vid and ur explanations are phenomenal... I also got many korean questions living abroad so I know how difficult it can be to explain it when u don't actually understand and study how the language works... 가려운곳을 시원하게 긁어주는 느낌이에요!! 재밌게 보고 갑니다 :))

Something interesting is that the dot you mentioned at the end is still used in the language spoken on Jeju island (i say language not dialect because its mutually unintelligible with Korean dialects) and sounds something like "au"

"다람쥐 헌 쳇바퀴에 타고파" seems to be the most famous Korean pangram I can find. (Means "The squirrel wants to ride on the old treadwheel.") It uses all 14 consonants in Korean but not all 10 vowels. There are other pangrams that use all 10 vowels and the double consonants.

Now i can read and know all the hangul but im still learning how it reslly works. I dont understand why there are two ㄹ for example like this ➡️ 을라 ⬅️ when u only need to speak it once. U understand what i mean? Does Duolingo explain it anywhere? Or can someone explain it to me. ???

을라 and 으라 is pretty different! 을라 is closer to eulra and 으라 is eura If u watch his how to read korean video he explains how the same consonant can be different depending on its placement and also how such words are pronounced differently (not sponsored lol) Im just a korean passing by enjoying how he explains it so well so should be accurate 👍
