Thanks for sharing! Can you advise on how to plan your traveling while volunteering via woof/workaway etc? I found it to be difficult because hosts tend to take a while to answer and it means that you have to plan at least a month ahead at times, which can sometimes contradict the idea of slow traveling and going with the flow..

Could you please talk more about how to get the visa for volunteering? Could it be a tourist visa? Have you come to Europe as well? I am planning to WWOOF but the visa process is driving me crazy. And it seems like it could still be denied :-(

Are you WWOOFing Rob? The most expensive thing for me was the transportation and lodging but I was able to eat cheap but I didn't eat in restaurants, I ate the street food because that was the cheapest, even cheaper than buying food at the grocery store and eating in the apartment . I'm sure it depends on where a person goes.

I am having difficult time finding a farmer in the USA. Out of 12 farmers, I am only a fit for 2 farmers. My goal as a woofer is to learn how to grow my own. Even though, I want to grow my own crops, I still want to enjoy my leisure activities.

I enjoy hosting WWOOFers when they're off the farm, using Couchsurfing. Sad that the pandemic makes it unsafe this year.

have to say i dont like wwoofing for a couple of reasons, firstly, most of these farms are for profit run businesses exploiting travellers for profit (5+ hours/day is way more value than a room in a house share with a few meals no matter how you look at it) secondly while capitalism is an awful economic system we are still being forced to live in it and taking paid jobs away while there are still people who need them is not helpful overall and leaves more people in awful poverty. i know obviously im complaining but i think we as a society need to find better ways of providing people with the ability to get involved in farming and travel without using them as indentured servants.

It’s supply and demand. The farmers are able to supply accommodation and food. While there being a demand from travellers to acquire these amenities in trade for their time. And with examples like this video, when time is not a factor, WWOOF is an excellent trade off.

I don't know. Somehow she doesn't look lost. 🤔 She looks more like happy, positive and full of energy. 🌞 Maybe this is a video before Covid. But I would think more that if she stays with people that grow ecolocical food, these people will help her and share with her in such times. Did you never hear about wars? The best place where you can be in such times is the countryside, because there you can get food and accomodation.
