Hey, my name is Rey, and I'll be taking your X-rays!
In this video I'll be showing you how to position for a rib series. I'll be demonstrating how to position for both a bilateral and unilateral, respectfully, when ordered.
It can be a tricky exam. For me, it was hard to remember when to collimate skinny or wide and getting the obliquity correct. Another problem students have are getting the CR in the correct position for a unilateral oblique.
It's tough to perfect something when it's rarely ordered. So if you're wanting to perfect your positioning for when you try for that sign-off or you have a practical coming up, this video is for you. Hit that like button if you appreciate these positioning videos. I put a lot of time into them, and a like goes a very long way. Thank you for all the love and support. Hope you're doing well. And without further a du, let's go!

Nice instruction & Explanation for the Radiological Technician like us. Good approach Brother. Please carry on and go ahead. We had no practical guidance before 35 yrs, back, something like this as from you. Very Good & helpful practical teaching. I respect & love my profession 10 times more as before & till now.

Never include abdomen and iliac crests and humerus in the projection. Never include both sides when one side is injured. Be sure to use the correct kV as it is different to a lung exposure. Let accurate collimation be your guide. If it is not collimated to the region of interest, it is a failed examination as far as dose goes.

May I ask you some questions? In the unilateral, should it be 40”? And why he used RAO for the anterior injury on the right side?
@thevoiceharmonic
@thevoiceharmonic Күн бұрын
@@jeremyz8020 FFD doesn't matter a lot, just compensate with exposure. I just direct the xrays to the region required. Steep obliques can show anterior rib injuries. All we need to do is show the injury in standard and supplementary projections, AP, oblique and perhaps, steep oblique. We can find more information about the injury position from the patient and adjust our technique accordingly.

In terms of patient radiation exposure, is it the same as regular Chest X-Ray at 0.01-0.02 mSv? Thank you. Let's say 3 images for a left/right Rib Series to diagnose a patient with suspected fracture, what would be the cumulative OR individual exposure. I believe RS adjust the power and field of view not sure how much it changes the radiation amount to the patient.
