Shim the mount rather than the rings to avoid potential harm to the scope seems to be the consensus

shimming is a very bad practice ,jou bend the scope and the internals can be harmed . use a moa rail ,or adjustable mounts , from fx ,vector , sportsmatch and more brands . .

You can get MOA scope inserts quite cheep, saves any potential crimping of the scope tube.. Never liked the idea of shimming, scope rings are designed to be flush / parallel with the tube of the scope.. Certainly wouldn't risk it on a expensive item, maybe one of them ones you get in a rifle / scope package for £200 I'd chance it..

thank you, a very neat and easy solution

great tip, i've had this issue myself. would it not be easier to wrap tape of some sort around the scope instead of trying to juggle those little slips of plastic?

Out of elevation just raise the scope mount, never like shims. Mounts are small med. high.

This is not a good way to add taper to your system. There's a right way and a wrong way to add taper, and this is like the wrong way, only faster and cheaper. Even on an air gun, this is going to lead to problems holding zero, crimped body tubes, etc. Get a tapered base or a tapered mount. Shimming, especially with plastic, is a great way to ruin a scope and introduce point of impact shift. This may work temporarily on an airgun, until it gets bumped around at all, but I hope you're not too invested in the scope because this could/will damage it. It will not work on any sort of firearm with recoil or piston airgun with reverse recoil. This sort of "hack" is akin to covering up your car's check engine light with electrical tape and considering the problem solved. Videos like this are why KZfaq really needs to bring back the dislike count.
