I live in Hawaii, EVERY SINGLE person here is on food stamps. Hawaii would just die.

You know what will this accomplish? More robberies. The reason there is general safety in USA is threefold: 1. Wealthy society 2. Good law enforcement 3. Food stamps for those who fall between the cracks of the system. I would know here in Latin America we have none of the three. When people can't get a job and their social safety nets fail, they won't sit down and starve to death. They start stealing. Also USA should better thinking on UBI, automation takes more jobs each passing day. And I don't believe those jobs will be replaced as fast as they are lost as some analysts seem to think.

They've increased military spending but my son is in the marines (full time) posted in California and he only makes $1400 a month. That's $250 a week! That's not even enough to cover his living expenses! So for the people that are saying "I don't mind all that money going to the military because at least our soldiers are getting paid more", NO THEY AREN'T!!! Our soldiers are having to get part time jobs while serving full time in the military to just barely pay their bills and not have ANY MONEY left over to save. How is that right at all?!?!?

Food stamps are supposed to be supplemental. SNAP stands for supplemental nutrition assistance program, supplemental being the key word. Churches usually run great food pantry and their food is free. Needy people can also go there.
