Based on the Moskva's maintenance report made a few days before the war most of her weapon systems didn't work. The close range CWIS only 2 of 8 were working, the other 6 had been partially cannibalized for parts. The 120mm cannon's hydraulics were malfunctioning so she couldn't use it in an air defense roll. The radar was usually disabled to prevent it from interfering with communications. The fire fighting equipment was locked away and only the admiral could unlock it to prevent theft. So, when Russia said the Moskva suffered a fire due to something like a magazine explosion... that was probably what they thought happened, because without the radar being on they wouldn't have even seen any incoming missiles and if they did have it on their defensive layers might have not been able to have worked. I think only the S400 missiles were the only thing that worked on the ship. Russia deployed this ship, knowing full well it was ill prepared to defend itself because, "Sink the Moskva? Next you're going to tell me Vodka isn't food!"

Nyet ship is fine, has Moscow in name, men will make up for systems not in working order... They probably broke from having capitalist imperialistic thoughts and had to be shot by the political officers! (Then sold for parts on the black market 🤣) Although even with 80-90% of the systems being operational I wonder if the two missiles wouldn't have impacted... listening to the radio calls and seeing the newest video they were VERY low and FAST... I doubt they even had the CIWIS systems on auto fire at that point of having no contact for months... It's all 80's-90's manually controlled auto systems... Like the kind the US Navy accidentally had engage it's own ships during the Gulf War 🤦‍♂️ There are pretty good videos/stories/pictures of these accounts online, even pictures of a depleted uranium 20mm hole punched into one of the Iowa class battleships 😄 Missouri maybe? And that was 1990/1991 with everyone on high alert in a "high morale,cheerful" Navy lol

You missed an interesting part about the battle for snake Island. While Ukraine was able to regain more and more of its territory it managed to retake the mainland point closest to snake Island. Once they did that they used a 100% domestically produced self-propelled howitzer the 2S22(The only one of its kind they managed to build before the break out of the war) to shell the island. Other than the 2S22 being a very advanced system built to NATO standards, I suspect it was also a very symbolic action to have completely Ukrainian built equipment retaking Ukrainian land.

A maintanence report on the Moskva from 14 days before the invasion was apparently leaked a short while ago. This report helps explain how this supposedly extremely advanced ship was sunk by Ukrainian missiles. - 1 of 6 of the anti-missile CIWS systems worked - 0 of the short-range sea to air missiles worked - S-300 anti-air missile systems did work, however their radar interfered with communication systems and was turned off. Even if it was turned on, it reportedly had difficulty locking on to targets anyway. - the twin-link 130mm cannon on the front of the ship, did not work. - Almost all damage control systems did not work - Some water-tight doors were found to be leaking - Out of 500 fire extinguishers that should've been on board, it had 50. - Due to theft concerns, all safety equipment was locked in storage and only the admiral had the key. - Several engines were past the service replacement date by reportedly thousands of hours - The engine problems caused the ship to only be able to travel at about half speed, in an emergency The ship was given a "satisfactory" rating. If this is true, it clearly explains why Ukraine was able to use just a couple missiles to penetrate the supposedly invulnerable 3-tier anti missile system

You are almost correct. But it's not that the air defense was not working, they were turn off due to bad design of the ship. So there are times when all is turn off so the batteries will recharge. If you get them in one of this moments they are done.

Yep, though this isn't just "intel" this is from an official Russian report of the Moskva's status. They then signed off that the ship was ok to go in this state. You also missed some of the best bits. The damage control equipment was being kept locked up with only the admiral aboard having the key, BECAUSE PEOPLE KEPT STEALING AND SELLING THE DAMAGE CONTROL EQUIPMENT. Furthermore, internal communications were basically nonexistent, so the bridge only knew what caused the explosion after a runner made it all the way up there to tell them.

Excellent video! For a follow up, you might want to look at the long history of Chornobaivka in the Kherson region of Ukraine. Chornobaivka is a small village that hosts the regiomal airport, which has a massive flat expanse of concrete. The Russians decided it would be a perfect helicopter base, and placed a couple of squadrons of attack helicopters to take advantage of it. Ukrainians were within artillery range, and destroyed a couple of squadrons of helicopters. next, not long after that, a Russian general decided that it would be a terrific site for his new headquarters, and established it there. Ukrainians waited politely, then fired again, killing two generals and the and Terry headquarters staff.Shortly after that, another two dozen helicopters were placed there. Ukrainian artillery fired again, and they were no more. Since March, Ukrainian artillery is targeted the base at least 45 more times, with varying degrees of success. Something like a bowling alley. Unfortunately, Ukraine is on the verge of retaking Chornobaivka and the saga is coming to an end.

The funny thing is that the marine Roman Hrybov is not the author of the famous quote. When he was released from the captivity, he was asked to say it was him because some people from the Zmiyinyi garrison were still in the hands of russians including the author. So it was like "hey, the guy is with us, you can stop looking for him". The actual author was released later in late May

Romania just took it in 1878 before that the island has been ottoman territory for Melania like Crimea Russians( Russian empire) took it in 1783 from Crimean khanate( Crimean tatars) so both are not Russian or Romanian. Romanian controlled the island not more than 64 years.

I'm glad I decided to watch these recent events in your videos, NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THIS HERE IN MICHIGAN. The news channels are awash with political news here in U.S.. I recently turned in my cable tv box to save money, none of these events were being covered by international reporters since the recent mid-term elections, in a couple hours I 've been informed of much that I didn't know, Biden has made me poorer, the tv had to go. I rang the bell and hit the like button, I doubt my decision will have much affect on your channel but It's all I can afford, I am subbed to nearly a hundred channels I don't upload videos because I can't afford a decent phone or camera I'm not complaining just telling you how it is. Ever since the Snake Island radio transmission went viral I have wondered how many great moments like this in history where lost prior to the digital age and social media. This is gonna be remembered pretty much forever unless there is some kind of "great fall" of humanity where we lose all records, where events like this happening in past wars and conflicts have often been lost to time unless they were attributed to a key figure who may or may not have said it like Pliny the Elder coining "Fortune favours the bold" before attempting and failing to reach the Harbour at Pompeii while Vesuvius was erupting.

@@BodybuildingNews What was fake? The Russian Warship go f**k yourself or Fortune favours the bold? Because if you mean the Russia Warship go f**k yourself thing... can you back that up since there is nothing online about it being fake anywhere. Not even conspiracy theory sites calling it fake. If you mean the Fortune favours the bold I would direct you to I preceded the example with "may or may not have said" acknowledging historical errors. That was kind of the point of using that example... there is no way to know for sure Pliny the Elder said that someone could have just claimed he said it to make the phrase stick better by tying it to a famous figure. Had Pliny not said that or the person that came up with it not attributed it to Pliny that phrase may not be in common use more than 2000 years after its alleged origins.

I would like to point out that the two aircraft where in fact Migs and not drones. You can tell by the glaring after burners of the two jet fighters.
@rashkavar
@rashkavar Жыл бұрын
From an economic standpoint, one big advantage of drones like the TB2 is that many of these systems are *cheaper than the missiles capable of shooting them down* while being powerful enough to blow up the whole launch system if they don't shoot. Which means either way, you're getting a net positive in the comparison of your war chests. Gone are the days where the thing you're shooting at with your multi million dollar SAM system is always a multi tens of millions dollar fighter jet. Russia's currently fielding some drones that cost somewhere in the ballpark of 20 000...which is so much cheaper than the missiles needed to shoot them down that it's kinda astonishing.

I love you how explain (without explaining) that propoganda doesn't have to be a dirty word - that it can be a very positive force in warfare for the side with the clear moral high ground. Some people treated legends like the Ghost of Kyiv as some kind of lie they were angry and disgusted with, when if they had grown up in a different time where people had more faith in leaders and institutions, they would be more supportive of the power of mythology.
@MaxwellAerialPhotography

Thank you, exactly. Propaganda is merely information broadcast for the political or military purposes. It is not necessarily synonymous with lies, and in fact the truth can sometime be used as a form of propaganda.
@greenbrickbox3392

@@greenbrickbox3392 In the case of the Ghost of Kyiv - even the hard facts are extraordinary. Lie is a harsh word, Especially when you find interviews of some of the pilots who fought in those first days.
@greenbrickbox3392
@greenbrickbox3392 Жыл бұрын
@@writingref interviews of military personnel during wartime is also propaganda as anyone with knowledge of military public affairs units is aware. Ghost of Kiev definitely qualifies as a lie, but as with all militaries the Ukrainian military has a mission to achieve victory, and telling the public the truth about military operations is very low on a military's list of priorities.
@writingref
@writingref Жыл бұрын
@@greenbrickbox3392 I mean - we basically agree, but I don't think we agree on lies vs myth. Myth is something much more powerful than a lie - because it is a shared ideal. A public dream. And if one considers the basis of truth in all dreams . . . then myth is something very different from a lie. Therefore I think Lie is the wrong word to attribute to the Ghost. Myth is correct.

You forgot to mention that 155mm SPG using excalibur and volcano shells were used from the main land to knock out air defence system and counter battery artillery. With out this the harpoon launcher systems and tb-2 would have been lost and the island would still be in Russian hands. Also manpads teams are stationed on the island to counter cruise missiles and drones from Crimea attacking the railway to Romania.

The Moskva was in such a sad state of maintenance that most navies would have scrapped it. It could barely go half speed, most of its watertight compartments weren't watertight, only 1/3 of its defenses were even partially functional and that one was 1/6 operational. It's radar shorted out its communications if they were both turned on at the same time. Not even the climate control worked. But it was a RUSSIAN warship manned by RUSSIANS so there's no way the "inferior" Ukrainians (who built the damn thing 40 years ago) could POSSIBLY harm it. The parallels between modern Russian and 1930s German military command ideologies are pretty similar.
