In the absence of LeBron James, Austin Reaves and D'Angelo Russell once again stepped up for the Los Angeles Lakers in a double overtime win vs Milwaukee Bucks.
With both Russell & Reaves not being as athletic in comparison to their competition, they both rely heavily on skill & IQ to get the edge on their opponents. Great analysis! Reaves is so smart with lots of tricks up his sleeve. He has to improve his three-point shooting, which will make his drives even easier, as his defenders will be so close to him he'll be able to get by them a lot more. D'Angelo's outside shot is a thing of beauty. Both of them are good finishers. I can't remember Reaves missing more than a handful of layups his entire career.

Fundamentals, skill, and good IQ. I’ll take a skilled unathletic point vs a shot chucking, inefficient high flyer. A guy that’s athletic and skilled is ELITE

Love the point made about conditioning. People view AD more athletic than Jokic but Jokic is the one beating him up and down the court throughout that WCF last year.

people think athleticism is only like high flying high vertical strong ash players but they forget and under-look things like flexibility conditioning and stamina are part of athleticism as-well. Jokic’s basketball Iq is superior to everybody in todays league thats what makes him so hard to guard and since he isn’t not anywhere close to the offensive play style that people think a traditional or typical athletic or dominant centers have

the way he plays is so unorthodox just so unique then theres only a handful of centers all time that u could compare his play style and he still got something over them

AD has way too much responsibility on defense. He expends too much energy on that side of the ball that he doesn’t put up similar numbers to Jokic. Jokic has elite defenders all around him so he focuses on offense.

another banger thanks coach. i like what u said about conditioning at the end. Im working on managing my energy. I give it my all at the start but towards the end I dont have the same effectiveness. Need to learn to play at a pace and determine what plays are worth my battery and which arent.

if you think Reaves is not athletic, you don't watch him. He might not be strong but he's athletic. There's a difference.
